Oh yeah, I remember that. I also remember it being no real problem playing the game. Got 100% on everything pretty easily.

They did a better job with the draw distance in later Tenchu PSP titles. No problems with the Tenchu 3 and Kurenai ports and with Tenchu 4.

Final Fantasy Tactics releases on the App Store sometime today for 16 bucks. Pretty hefty for a, what, 15 year old game? But its somewhat reworked for the retina display on the iPhone 4, and the interface has been much improved.

Unfortunately no. That's something Apple needs to introduce with the App Store -- trials of every paid app -- but they probably won't. Some developers have gotten around that by offering the app for free with in-app purchases unlocking the full game/app, but I'd rather Apple just mans up and fixes everything. Demos and "Lite"s are separate apps, and they introduce confusion for the user. My dad was running Angry Birds Lite for the longest time and had no idea that there was an infinitely more enjoyable game with the SAME NAME in the App store. He felt dumb afterwards haha.

Well, you can always do what I do and play oldskool Japanese games that never got a US release. I just got my hands on Tales of Destiny Remix and Tales of Rebirth... not to mention, there are quite a number of niche J-only PSP games with no chance in hell of coming to the US. I think, depressingly, there will be lots of games left in Japan nowadays.

I took 3 semesters of Japanese in college (did very well in them), but don't really remember too much unfortunately

That was 10 years ago... I need to see if Stony Brook has any Japanese classes that non-students can sign up for.

PSP update is so goddamn stupid

I'm trying to play a recent game demo. "LOL NO, to upgrade press x"
I press X. "LOL go download it"
I download it. "LOL hook it up to AC"
I hook it up to AC. "LOL your battery is too low"

and this isn't a significant upgrade or anything. It's 6.39. point three nine. Maybe if it was firmware 7.00 and it added something--ok. but firmware 6.39? well, what does it do:

Relius Clover (Carl's dad IIRC) is confirmed as playable character in BlazBlue. I guess he'll be DLC on console.

I wish they'd announce the next disc release / arcade version though. I want more story mode and less overpriced DLC.
