capcom is reaching some supervillain level of dickery, remember asura's wrath the game i ranted on so much? there is something i didn't say... the game ends in a cliffhanger

and guess what? DLC ENDING INCOMING

WHELP GUESS I'LL HAVE TO FINISH IT ON YOUTUBE,THANKS CAPCOM!

The last Spy vs Spy game that was made was bad. Doubt this'll be any different.

there was one on ps2,right?

i remember 2 for the old C64 and one for gameboy and well oscar is kinda right, but ehy! FUCKING NOSTALGIA!

I'm surprised; they must have been much more optimistic in their forecasts than they had any right to be. There just aren't enough people buying DLC to make that kind of move.

Probably triggered by an event (that piece isn't in the main client yet).  Specific music plays when you do things like engage in a team fight or use certain items.  It's a nice touch that makes the game feel more polished.

the music in the XIII-2 battle sounds like every other XIII battle theme  :-\

There's some good music in XIII and XIII-2, but so much of it all sounds the same.  Very little range for an epic rpg scope.

He sounds like John DiMaggio trying to do a Joker voice.

John DiMaggio actually voiced The Joker in Batman: Under the Red Hood.

I hate the voice they picked for Ultros.  He sounds like John DiMaggio trying to do a Joker voice.

I always imagined him having a deeper voice.  Similar intonation, just... deeper.  More like Oogie Boogie from Nightmare.

I never imagined him having a deep voice, but masaya onasaka (aka, Vash the Stampede from Trigun) would definitely NOT be my choice for Ultros.  He's too goofy of a VA.

Two things.

First, I used a 3ds for the first time ever today. I knew I wasn't really interested in it since it was announced so I never really bothered with it. But I had to kill some time at Best Buy today so I played around with one. My impression. That thing hurts my eyes. I know there is a slider for the 3d effect but it just strikes me a bit odd that the main gimmick of it bothers me when I play it.

Also I bought one of those MLG controllers.

The gimmick here is that you can re-position and swap out the analog sticks and dpad. It's pretty good. It's too expensive but for some reason I tend to have bad luck with 360 controllers and go through a lot of them as they tend to get very loose or keep registering movement even when I let go or things of that nature. I much prefer it to the Razer Onza which I bought last year but had fundamental issues with it. I only wish it had the button types of that controller but otherwise it feels really good and solid. Some people have complained that it has a flaw where the analog sticks reach full sensitivity before you have pressed it all the way in one direction but either I don't notice it or it doesn't really bother me.

ehn, sega was rolling money very riskily on fan favourite ideas and projects, i knew it had to catch up to them sooner or later.

this is what happens when you make games the fans want instead of making shit-fucking-tastic music simulators.

Examples of non-profitable fan favorite ideas?  Because all I can think of from Sega recently is Nagoshi games, Sonic, Platinum Games, and PSO.  And none of those fit that description.

I'm not clear on the Mikami situation, but he was at Platinum and made Vanquish, and now he has Tango under Bethesda.  So did that split Platinum up?

anyway, Anarchy Reigns is going to be a massive bomb.

Platinum has been a huge money sink.  They're the big culprit.  Daytona was apparently a financial bust.  Sonic Generations is the weakest-selling Sonic yet (even Black Knight sold more than 360/PS3 Generations combined).  Crush3D.  Resonance of Fate.  House of the Dead Overkill.  The English versions of the RGG games.  The big "fan-requested" XBLA games have been a wash (like Guardian Heroes).

It's time to cut Platinum loose, sadly.  I hope Konami can do for them what Capcom and SEGA could not.
They were suppose to save Japan... :'(

Sucks to hear that Sega's XBLA remakes haven't been doing well either.

Wasn't Black Knight a catastrophic bomb?  Does this mean Colors did several factors better than Generations (although Color's quick pricedrop tells a sad story I believe)

Also, the pokemon bubble already burst a long time ago.  So when the cards, toys, tv show, and movies stopped being hugely successful all that was left was a very successful rpg franchise that ingrains itself into the new generation of 9 year olds forever and ever.

Wait, wait, wait.

How was Daytona a bust?  How could porting that game to XBLA have cost more than a drop in the bucket for the company?

Platinum bombas are understandable, but they weren't really "fan-favorite" designs.  They published a bunch of games from a new studio who seemed awesome in hopes they would sell.  Seems reasonable.  Just didn't pan out.

Overkill was a bomb?  I thought that did pretty well.

Resonance of Fate is one of the better selling Tri-ace games that isn't Star Ocean IP.  What could they have been expecting?

Didn't Sonic Generations sell like 1 million+??  The way they spit out these yearly Sonic games, I can't imagine they cost that much to make to need more than a million or two sales to profit.

Crush3D...well, it just came out and it's a remake of a PSP game that hardly anyone bought.  Probably a really bad decision to make.

and RGG english versions...how expensive could bringing them out be?  They're not even dubbed.  Again, would seem like a drop in the bucket financially.

Unfortunate for Sega as I thought their quality output had increased in recent years compared to where it use to be.

The divide between what mainstream gamers want and what Sega is delivering just seems to be very big at this stage. They are essentially a nostalgia brand either for certain specific franchises and in general as a company. Which is not a great place to be in.

I think when "normal" gamers think of Sega they think of Sonic and nothing else.

While I haven't played many sega games of late, I got the impression that most of the titles people devoted their time slobberin over on message boards were games that don't trade on sega's awesome, old arcade history (yakuza, valkyria chronicles).

This also reminds me of when EA was doing the whole goody two-shoes, making lauded* original IPs like Mirror's Edge, which lost them buckets of money.

*again, on message boards.

This means no more SEGA retail games in English except Sonic, Football Manager, Aliens, and Total War.  Period.  What's nearly finished should get released but that's it.

That's definitely the final nail in Bayonetta 2's coffin, sadly.

I don't get the point of almost shutting down SEGA USA.  Unlike NamcoBandai, Sega doesn't have a strong lineup of JAPAN-ONLY brands besides RGG & Hatsune Miku.  They depend on international appeal and international sales for their titles.  Downsizing their localization staff seems illogical to me.
