I feel pretty good knowing that there is critical and industry consensus that Avatar wasn't even worthy of any serious awards.
Waltz got Best Supporting Actor.
Quote I feel pretty good knowing that there is critical and industry consensus that Avatar wasn't even worthy of any serious awards. What the fuck is Avatar
What is Avatar and why did it win best cinematography?
Find me a post where I actually came out and directly advocated Avatar for Best Picture over The Hurt Locker. It doesn't exist. I've always said that it should be one of those two (or three, depending on how I felt about IB at the time).
Michael Bay just had to win Best Director for that. I had never seen such tits that evoked a sense of awe and wonder.
It was James Cameron who convinced his ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow to direct this film. She originally had planned on doing another project and wasn't sure about doing this film. Cameron read it and told her to do this film, and it ended up earning her an Oscar nomination for Best Director -- in fact, Hurt Locker was nominated in seven categories against Cameron's Avatar (2009), including Best Picture. cameron
It won Cinematography, so I'm satisfied.
Too be honest, District 9 should have won.
Cameron didn't win dick Shinobi.Stab yourself
District 9 was a fun movie. I was surprised it was nominated but I think in the end it just degenerates into a typical action movie which takes away a little from it.Inglorious Bastards was good but I think it went on for too long and had a fundamentally flawed narrative (take out the bastards and nothing in the story actually changes).
Avatar was pretty good. I'll buy the blu-ray.

You guys trying to make this about me are fucking whack. I've been praising The Hurt Locker consistently for months now.Maybe I was a litle too zealous in defending Avatar against Billco's incessant trolling, but you guys are up your own asses if you think I'm half the Avatard that some of those wankers on GAF are. Also at anyone who thinks I'm actually upset over tonight's outcome.
So now you're not only saying you have better taste than me, but you have better taste than the Academy? You're delusional, Federman.
You guys remember when WrikaWrek posted in the movies thread about how he just watched this war flick that you might think is not good from the title/trailer, but is actually pretty good?Well that movie just won the Oscar. Whoda thunk
You're digging for something that isn't there, Bill. Let it go.

You ever taken any writing classes, Himu? There's about an hour of plot that goes absolutely nowhere and is completely unnecessary. The main character is clearly the Jewish girl, Shoshanna, but intersected with her story are a bunch of pointless, marginally entertaining vignettes starring Brad Pitt and his men.
This thread is a perfect example of why you should never overextend yourself too early. There will be plenty of time for gloating when, or if, you win. And if you lose, you didn't leave behind a trail for everyone to point to and laugh about.
BUT GUYS, AVATAR WILL BE REMEMBERED IN 20 YEARS. THE HURT LOCKER WONT.
