Happy to see the Wii starting to slide down.

Not sure why the PS3 is this forums whipping boy, though.  The hate is thick enough that you can almost slice it with a knife.  I just can't figure it out.
Because there is nothing funnier on a game forum than riled up Sony fans.

Nothing. You freaks blew past Nintendo fans years ago.

The thing is that it doesn't take much to rile them up,they are always in some state of emergency, like some bomb is going to blow or naked cats will start falling from the sky.

And some of them have such pathological love towards Sony so they take everything seriously and defend everything like crazy. And they hate numbers apparently...

That is an extremely easy target to poke.

But I'll oblige.

  • Online gaming becomes the standard for consoles. (for every console but the Wii but who cares about the Wii amirite) (however, playing Mario Kart online without the use of the XBand was a dream come true for this old man) It doesn't matter if you don't have any friends to play videogames with anymore, you can find one online!
  • Offline gaming gets more crowd-pleasing. Hate all you want, but parties where people play Wii Bowling or Rock Band are WAAAAY more fun than people passing the controller around. And you might even get chix to play, too!
  • 1080 visuals become the standard for consoles (again, not applicable for the Wii)

Yeah, shit generation, total. Gaming should go back to the nerdlinger ghetto, where it belongs! ::)

This is the first generation I can think of that a manufacturer had to issue an extended 3 year warranty for a system and basically admit they fucked up.

Also, waggle.

-i'm not cheap, but the fact that companies are cockblocking content at launch to sell 108kb keys is lame.

But yeah, M$ was the first company to make faulty hardware. Totally.

And everyone saying "waggle" must be a fucking hit at parties.

Funny how waggle is still selling, though. Doesn't quite seem like it's run dry outside of nerds on message boards.

The first one where the FAILURE rate was 50%. It took 4 years before they made something semi-reliable.

LAUNCH PS3s had the laser too close to the chip so it caused it to overheat and warp, but that was quickly fixed. Look at how MS handled their fuckup. They just keep dealing with the symptoms (heat) rather than the problem (Cheap fucking solder)

I've owned more or less every game system ever made since the NES including some Japanese variants and have NEVER had a machine die on me until the 360 (though I did have to turn my PSXes upside down).

On my fourth 360.

Three; mine never RRoD, they just melt and stop working and MS refuses to cover them. The only reason it's not "four" is because I bought the Best Buy extended warranty on the second.

What has died? XBox1 & 360, Playstation 1 & 2, Sega Saturn, Super Nintendo, and yes, even my fucking Atari 2600 died back in the daaaaaaaaaay.

360 has a one year warranty; three year is only for RRoD issues. I get two red rings or flashing orange rings or whatever, melted graphics cards and corrupted hard drives and disc read errors, but never the big fatty RRoD eye that means "free replacement!"

So yes, I'm bitter, and I hate this gen.

360 is a melty piece of garbage
PS3 is a decent Blu-ray player with no games
Wii is the Wii

If it weren't for the PC, I'd have ended it years ago.

I'm on my 4th 360, normal use on all, never covered up vents, kept them dusted, etc.

My 60GB BC PS3 is still holding in there, but I hardly ever use it for anything.

Best system I ever owned was the Atari 2600, as far as durability goes - I once kicked it all the way across the living room and it still fired up like a champ.
