OMG this game looks soooooooo good.

And If you have Splosion Man there are unlockable DLC levels inside Comic Jumper! Very innovative and cool IMO.

Hopefully its out soon!

Im not sure why Twisted Pixel games dont publish on PS3. The Maw and Splosion Man were both XBLA exclusive (although I think Maw was on PC, too?)

Because it isn't cost effective?

Yes, making alot more money then what they would make limiting it to one platform isn't cost effective.  ::)

They may have a deal with MS, but it is a very small dev team most likely they dont have the resources to publish cross-platfrom. They would have chosen XBLA as these types of games tend to sell much better on that service.

cheevs are up: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/comic-jumper/achievements/

does this mean we'll be seeing the game real soon?! It should've been a Summer of Arcade title, but maybe we'll see it before then!??!?!

Splosion Man was pretty easy IMO, this game is going to be even easier, seeing as theres no achievement for hard mode or co-op or anything.

Yeah, I found some timing stuff in Splosion Man to be a little hard, to be honest. And the co-op stuff, I've not got anyone to play with -- and isn't it local co-op only? I am not a fan of local co-op required 'cheevs. Even Rock Band 1 was just mean spirited to have so much stuff requiring multiple local players. At least singing and guitar/bass/drums is possible to do simo with one player.

I know this post was made back in june, but theres nothing I see from comic jumper to separate it from every other game that takes the same bag of tired gaming conventions and tries to differentiate itself with a visual gimmick.

It's from the makers of Spolsion Man so it's loaded with personality and comedy. Of course, being a Wii only "gamer" you haven't actually played that game, and thus have no right to make a comment here

What kind of people make a game about game that takes place in a comic book and give it a glossy 3d art style?  :-\

I'm not suggesting the game be 2d, but I'm surprised a game like this isn't cel-shaded or have more comic-y shaders or shadows.

Sounds better than Comix Zone. As much as I love Comix Zone, it's admittedly not the best game. The combat for instance is flawed.

Comix Zone successor, I like.

No, you and sceneman stfu. Its the same old shit with a new coat of paint. You run through levels you kill bad guys. You cant criticise Call of Duty for lack of originality and then attribute "creativity" to whats essentially another sidescrolling platformer with a gun mechanic (contra/megaman/metalslug/etc)  and a bunch of referential art styles.  Pull your head out of your ass and stop pretending you all have some exclusive palette of good taste.

No one said it was creative. I don't think.

I certainly don't think it looks particularly "creative", but it does look *appealing*, and there in lies the difference for me.

I prefer side scrollers, rail shooters, and platformers to first person shooters and those are a rarity (though they're making a comeback) so get off our dicks just because some of us like (and often prefer) a lil' oldschool action.

I was kinda miffed that someone would be distressed that someone couldn't 'appreciate' something he was into and then throws dudebro shooters under the bus like they are some lesser genre. We all like tired shit. It differs from person to person but don't be a baby because others don't notice whatever tired shit you are into.

You must be kidding me. There are few side-scrollers made on an annual basis, while there are hundreds of first person shooters. Tired or not, it's not hypocritical for someone to prefer a certain game type that has been neglected for almost 10 years (on consoles that is), as opposed to a genre they really just don't like at all, a few exceptions aside.

And I think this is another thing I took issue with. I appreciate humor in my games. I appreciate personality. Unfortunately I can easily ignore games that use that as a selling point when your doing the same old gaming conventions.

As a wiitard, I'm not even sure I'll be picking up Kirby or Donkey Kong Country. I have platforming games already, so in a way, I'm satiated. It takes some radical reinvention or turning a genre on its head to get my attention.

so you'll only play games that are COMPLETELY new? You already own some platforming games so you wont play the new Kirby (which looks awesome)?

Riiiiiiight.... seems like you've missed the point of gaming entirely. Good luck with waiting for a game that doesn't fit an exisiting genre archetype or have any elements of an exisiting game whatsoever.

but hey, if you can play the same game over and over without needing to buy a new one becuase you already have a game... more power to you I guess.

Kinda. I tend to seek out that one game in a respective genre that I can replay over and over and not get sick of.  Like, I like Tetris. But I really don't see the point in buying multiple falling block games when I like Tetris, have tetris, and play tetris often. In the long run this saves me a  lot of money and means I can dedicate myself to fewer games. This might not sound like a good thing but I was having a problem not too long ago where I was accumulating games but never giving any single one much attention. It was like they had become disposable.

Really Himuro, you think you're in a position to demean anybody?  Why don't you go blow some petty game with its petty flaws out of proportion and label it with some sensationalist title?  Then you can anchor the discourse around your personal feelings on the subject throughout the duration of the topic and play coy whenever someone calls you out on the attention whore you are.  But you would never do that right?  Wtf AM I doing in this topic anyway? Get your last words or smilies in now.

When I blow a game, I do so because of flaws or personal feelings on such flaws, because I likely didn't have fun. And rarely will you see me blow a game. :rofl

You're blowing a game because it's "the same thing with a new color of paint" as if no one game will ever fall under genre conventions.

Holy fuck the manga stage(s) is fucking awful. I can't tell what the fuck is going on half the time because of the black and white color palette.

The game is funny and I love the style, but I'm not enjoying it at all.  It don't necessarily mind the repetitive shooting gameplay but even with Smiley all maxed out the enemies take way too many shots to kill.  That's a huge problem, imo.

Missed opportunity with this one.  Comic Jumper could've been and should've been brilliant.  It desperately needs some more fine tuning.

Beat the game.

It's a real shame the gameplay is so crap. The bulk of the game plays like a poor mans Contra, mixed in with god awful melee sections and Panzer Dragoon/Sin and Punishment-esque on rails sections. Its not absolutely terrible, but the game does feel like a chore to play most of the time.

But the writing and acting, hooooly shit. So damn funny. Tons of references to action movies. Totall Recall, Kickboxer, Timecop, Demolition Man.... I laughed out loud so many times throughout the game. There is a great joke every minute or so, way too many to mention.

Theres a ton of awesome extra unlockable content, too. Concept art, songs, a free theme, gamerpics, interviews, bloopers, avatar awards... youre geting a ton of stuff, more than most SE full retail games.

I'd recommend this game. Despite it's flaws.
