2. We got half an inch of rain like 20 minutes last night.
3. The streets were a river. My basement had 1-2 inches of water in it.

Moved everything out, managed to save the furniture and electronics. Carpet is toast. Baseboards too. Not sure about the walls. The water drained fast since our drain lines never backed up.

Time to fight city hall. This sucks.

So my wife called public utilities last night to ask about our claim. Their response? "Oh, there was too much rain for the system to handle." "You should be thankful no one died." Yeah, we are thankful, but you just ruined the basement level of my house. The basement I built out with my dad four years ago.

Too much rain? In Seattle? It was 4/10 of an inch. IN SEATTLE. You're a massive metropolitan city and you can't handle rain?!?

They've also sent trucks out after sundown the last two nights. First night they checked manhole covers at 1am and then last night around 10:30pm they pumped water out of them. Never talked to anyone either time, but we took video. Double teaming with our neighbors who also got screwed.

They also told us to just save all the receipts and submit it for payment when we're  done. But no guarantee that they'll admit fault or pay for anything. Everything is in boxes on our main floor, our house is bordering on hoarder condition right now. And their lack of concern makes us afraid that it's going to flood again before the project is done sometime in the next 1-2 months. Do we redo the drywall and put in carpet right away or wait? ARGH.

My daughter doesn't understand what's going on. She's been with my parents for the last two days and I'm taking her home tonight. She just wants to play in the basement, now all the toys that we didn't throw away are up in her room.

Don't let them run out the clock on you. Dunno about Washington but in Michigan the state and insurance companies can legally refuse to pay claims if a year passes before they receive specific paperwork from the claimant. And even if you send the paperwork they can still fuck you over if you don't pester them.

Man, I haven't really listened to new rock in ages outside of Uncle Acid (shout outs to Wrath for putting me on them). Before them I probably didn't listen to much new shit outside of Them Crooked Vultures when it came out (I really like that album). I'm stuck in the past (surprise) - still listening to Zeppelin, Hendrix, Metallica, Anthrax, Maiden, Soundgarden, etc. I can't fux with rock without a decent singer though, which is why that cookie monster metal shit gets throw in the bushes.

Yeah, pretty much. I can thankfully block out English lyrics pretty well, possibly due to being a 2nd language speaker, but holy shit is it hard sometimes.

I checked out what Godsmack were up to in recent years because Spotify's related artists section reminded me of their existence. Current top played song on there (1000hp) is about their band history in fairly matter of fact tones and its unbearable, even by Godsmack standards.

One more reason I love Clutch.

Never was a Godsmack fan although their first album wasn't bad. They were always too much of a AiC rip off for me, down to their very band name. Every now and then I tune into my favorite rock station, which I listened to a lot as a kid. They played the new Godsmack song last week and wow it was terrible.

Given how ridiculous I am about outside the house social interactions, I find it amusing that I #dgaf about the people I live with (or who they bring home) while y'all #struggle with shit like this.

The only concession I've made to the anarcho-commune is leaving my bedroom door open while I read after coming home from work because generally everyone leaves their doors open to keep the house cooler while I don't. Reading about #solidarity in Dachau while living #solidarity irl brehs. I even threw one of my oscillating fans in the door last night like everyone else does.

EVERY genre is nerdy when you're looking for the good in it. There's non nerdy metal like crap that is Five Finger Death Punch, there's non nerdy  music in every genre, most of it is the big hit mainstream variety. Of course there's mainstream music that's good on all platforms, but for you to say that people who love a genre and know a lot about it are nerds? Well then, the fuck did you expect? Of course they are. Wether it's rap, metal or even dubstep.

Funnily enough is that you chose Metallica and Slayer to call nerdy  Two of the biggest bands out there who are instantly recognizable, Sure, I guess you can say Slayer is nerdy. But Metallica? A band who everyone and their mother listen to? Who sell out concerts everywhere? Where you can find someone wearing their t-shirt anywhere? 

The band is the most mainstream thing out there, any white girl with an acoustic guitar plays Nothing Else Matters. And most of the hate they get is from metalheads, the nerds themselves.

I can dap this.  I don't really give a fuck about lyrics anymore.  If the whole package of sound comes together, including the voice I don't care what they're saying.  This has allowed me to listen to foreign music too.  Putting lyrics as the highest requirement makes you miss out on lots of music IMO.
