Every time I leave OG, I feel like I could just have a heart attack right there on the damn sidewalk.

We used to go at lunch for unlimited soup and salad because it was next to work. Brutal. Shit is horrible for you.

Also just to give an idea of my dietary habits atm, I had a beer for dinner last night.

Like in MyFitnessPal I went to the bother of putting a beer in there for dinner.

Aside from purple drank or something, I doubt I'm going to beat 800 something calories for $2 from the Bell at the dollar store, after the daily nutrient gruel I'm just trying to hit enough calories so that my body doesn't start eating its own muscle.

wouldn't be a problem if you diluted the soup a bit with some water.

One cup of soup should not make you feel like you're having a heart attack. I'd mostly go for salad and be fine. Then the rest of the food comes... Two bites of soup and half a breadstick, and I'm already tearing up. Shit is not even real food, much less Italian.

At last the true underlying cause of the Great Olive Garden Beef is revealed.

Origin stories. :lawd

@Spencer - New orders of Soylent take 4-5 months (!!!) to ship, I might be dead or willing to eat again that far in the future. Is there a cadre of Bay Area techies or something cornering the Soylent market?

RE: Rock Music

I think you would dig Savages, PD. Very aggressive, very upfront. Brash and abrasive. The message of the record is clear and mutli faceted while individual tracks are concise and to the point. Elements of Jehnny's songwriting and vocal ideas remind me really strongly of Beth Gibbons and I remember you being into Portishead. Very emotional writing from a deeply feminine perspective. Try out She Will sometime.

I don't see how experimenting with home made nutrient pastes sourced from internet forums whose work is based on a Kickstarter that hasn't been fulfilled yet is any different from ordering off the dollar menu from Taco Bell. I'd say you're in the clear.

It was interesting. Did my lack of effort and fresh ingredients draw immediate comparisons to the Olive Garden? (Image removed from quote.) Or in her mind, was she fully trying to compliment me, holding Olive Garden as a high culinary standard to meet. Or perhaps has she been lurking the bore all this time, intentionally trolling me? (Image removed from quote.)

too many dualities (Image removed from quote.)

spoiler (click to show/hide)
BTW my hate for Olive Garden stems from when I went there at age 8, ordered chicken parmesan, and they served it to me about 50-60% frozen. Ice crystals, salmonella and pink chicken in my mouth. Fucc Olive Garden.

And fucc anyone who love em :ufup

So I just proposed to my company a program where we could help small companies/co-ops/research orgs/charities leverage out services to take them to the next level at little cost. It's one of those "giving back" things. This could go really well. Or it could be a disaster. We'll see what the CEO has to say. Oh well. I interact with our executive leadership all the time, but I'm actually nervous about this. Weird. It doesn't happen.

Thanks Pix, I know you got my health at heart. :-[

On a related note, I found a nutrient gruel that's high in potassium so I don't need to eat actual food to make up for my growing K deficiency. :whew

I've started hitting up farmer's markets for a lot of stuff and paying slightly more for better ingredients. Makes such a difference.

If you buy a bunch of low-end crap at the grocery store, but then end up eating out a few times because you can't motivate yourself to cook something that you know is going to suck, you don't actually save any money. Doubly so if some of what you bought ends up going bad in the fridge.

Buy slightly higher end ingredients, and be excited to cook when you get home. I'd be really surprised if this isn't actually saving me money, plus I'm getting more enjoyment out of eating.

We've got one of the best year-round farmers markets in the country by our place. We've been going every Saturday morning for seven years now. Buying local is more important to us than buying organic.

Actual "everything's a dollar dollar stores" are great for the random shit they get dumped on them.

One nearby has books it gets from a book shop down the road, and it's always things nobody wanted. Like Ben Ferguson's classic: It's My America Too: A Leading Young Conservative Shares His Views on Politics and Other Matters of Importance Or ten different books about the rise and fall of Lindsay Lohan. Or some book on some famous court case you sorta remember from ten years ago. Like if it was ten years from now it'd be a book about Casey Anthony. And probably a couple years ago it was a Susan Smith book.

I spent $4 and bought: Leading the Way: The Story of Ed Feulner and the Heritage Foundation, Regret the Error: How Media Mistakes Pollute the Press and Imperil Free Speech, New Deal or Raw Deal? How FDR's Economic Legacy has Damaged America, One Car Caravan: The Amazing True Saga of the 2004 Democratic Race. I've only read the last one so far and may never read the rest, but that last one was the perfect size to prop up one of my monitors so they're the same height off the desk now.

I thought that Ben Ferguson one was the Ben Shapiro/TRUTH REVOLT guy at first, thank Mises I made sure before I spent a dollar on it.

I also got some Jolly Ranchers because they seemed sealed well enough and with a new enough date on it to be protected from the other food products in the store. I can't resist looking in the freezer/refrigerator cases in the back of the store every time I go though.

I dont get why people (in the US) are so obsessed with dollar menus at fast food places. Most of you obviously have the money to buy better food (especially ones on places like GAF and bore buying multiple $50 games a month) so why on earth would food be the thing you cheap out on?

A lot of it's better than the higher priced stuff at fast food places. Fer serious. Or at least of about the same quality. Plus you can get more for less.

Sometimes it's even the healthier options because it's not got all the fancy junk attached. (Plus, usually less bread.)

And if you're taking it home, skipping the combos and building your own off the dollar menu then drinking what you have at home like vodka or drain cleaner you can get a lot more food for the same price.

Oh yeah, I used to love figuring out what the three things at once they were trying to knock off as a kid. Should swing by that section next time I pop in, though I probably won't know the kids actual toys in stores they're knocking off anymore. Is Skylanders still a thing, I remember accidentally winding up in an aisle full of them one time before I knew Jeff Gerstmann was addicted and learned about them.

Oh man, I'm remembering going to Big Lots one time and they had POWER TROOPERS which were like terrible Power Ranger knock-offs (somebody had like clearly just painted red/blue/etc. over top of some robot man toy as they were all the same except for the color) only their weapons were like AK-47's and grenades and pirate swords. Like they had seen the commercial for Power Rangers and grabbed whatever random junk was in the sweatshop that approximated it.

And then those toys would always have like some crazy NES-era style boxart that was juxtaposed against the garbage toy inside.

I'm pretty sure the conclusion will be "Raw Deal" and it doesn't sound like it'll be as anti-corporatism as FDR's Folly or The Forgotten Man was but more pro-business. But hopefully it has some more horror stories about the government arresting people for selling food or dry cleaning for under the NRA set price.

The New Deal is interesting because about half the ideas in it were pretty good, and the other half were god-awful.
The greatest New Deal story is and always will be how FDR was choosing prices.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Quote
Morgenthau was nonetheless involved in monetary decisions. Roosevelt adopted the idea of raising the price of gold to inflate the currency and reverse the debilitating deflation of prices. The idea came from Professor George Warren of Cornell University. When Roosevelt told Morgenthau he was thinking of raising the price of gold by 21 cents, his entourage asked him why. "It's a lucky number", Roosevelt said. "Because it's three times seven." As Morgenthau later wrote, "If anybody knew how we really set the gold price through a combination of lucky numbers, etc., I think they would be frightened."

Gundam, I talked to my wife (who's been at a flood conference coincidentally) and she said make some noise, find out who the contractor is, make noise with them, and most importantly find the plan specifications, which should detail plans in an event that something like happens, and as long as the rainflow wasn't outside of typical intensity they should have been prepared.  She said either the city will just cave, pay you and sue the contractor, or fight it because they're dicks.  If you have any more detailed technical questions just lemme know and I'll pass them along to her.  Also did you take pictures of the conditions of the storm drain inlets?  how they were blocked etc?

roomate reset the router and locked me out.  Did the same to him.  Going to lay down the law over this shit and his GF.

Good on you; passive aggressive behavior never solves anything.

I was walking home from my 4AM 7-Eleven excursion (Ahkmed just put the spicy hotdogs I was looking to buy on the grill, so I had to get some 1 dollar sausage biscuits :beli ) and as I am passing a house I see this gargoyle looking nicca standing on the passenger side of his car. He's unmoving, with black hair and dark tinted goggles on and I am like :what. I stare thinking maybe they put a creepy ass doll on top of their car for Halloween or some shit when the nicca moves and I am like :whew My heart skipped brehs. Creepy ass motherfucker. To be fair tho I was having an imaginary conversation pretty loudly, which is a really bad habit when I walk at night. Usually I keep it low but when it's in the AM I give no fucks and just go at it all loud like nobody around. He probably thought I was a nut...

Since I've got a lot of time on my hands I decided to finally tackle my little backyard today. It was a pain in the ass to clean up all the clay and dig out the 12' by 6' area. Clay is horrible and there is no good answer to dealing with when you've only got human power. I made it through and got it all planted. This after I went to the flea market and farmers market. Today has been a long day, but I'm happy and that's something I couldn't say a few days ago.

I think it looks nice, it's not perfect but once I have the energy to drill the heart up onto the wall I think it will be finished. The fish is full of Lavender and the other pot is full of different species of Rosemary my favorite herb. The grass looking things have these awesome doctor seuss flowers when they are in bloom. Those are joined with the mexican heathers and in the back there are several bougainvilleas of different color.

I'd been meaning to finish this for months but didn't have the time. Now I just need to get the rest of the shit off my patio and find a nice little set of furniture for out there. I now have a nice view to look out onto while I'm riding my bike instead of the wall.

Saskatoon Police have apprehended a 9 year old boy after he stole a Saskatoon City Transit bus, hit another City Transit bus, and a civilian vehicle just before 10:00 a.m. September 06, 2014.

Saskatoon Police received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 9:53 a.m. this morning stating a City Transit bus had just been stolen from the 300 Blk. of 24th St.West. The stolen bus then hit another City Transit bus as well as a civilian vehicle prior to getting hung up on a curb at Idylwyld Dr. and 25th St..
