Heh, thanks guys. I'm doing okay for now. Probably partly because it's just abstract, fresh info at the moment, and my parents saying that everybody's doing okay for now.
But it's also kinda funny because of how "old school", nonchalant/"keep calm carry on" my family is.
The above news didn't even rate a phone call from my folks. I just get a facebook message from my mom this afternoon:
"Hey, Happy New Year. How are you? Here's what's going on back home........." ("Back home" still being just a two hour drive away for me)
Me: "What the
fuck"
They shrug everything off. eg. Ever since my grandfather's last heart scare in October, he calls my father or my uncle every morning to check in, since he lives alone. They all joke and call it the "hey, still not dead" phone call.

Has your mother been to an orthopedic doctor? Sounds too serious for a chiropractor and massage therapist.
She's done regular massage and chiro treatment for a while now, so that was just in the line of "well, I have an appointment there tomorrow anyway...." treatment, because it just happened. We will all be pestering her to get further analysis/treatment going forward, of course.
