I was reading that in Reno the median house value went up 17% since last quarter.
I went looking for other data in growing markets and found about the same 10-19% growth in the last quarter.
WTF? How is this at all sustainable? Nothing, not even ponzi schemes,  has that amount of return.
I keep waiting for the bubble to burst, I was hoping it would happen the last year of Obama's term, so at least he could set the right direction, but now we're in Trump country, and when this bursts, I have 0% confidence that he'll be able to keep the economy from imploding when the next shoe falls in this.

My sister got married today and my head feels like it's gonna explode. I had to help with the preparations and babysit her 6 month old kid for several weeks and this week has just been stressful as hell. Then unexpectedly, I had to decorate the wedding cakes this morning and I kept fucking up and it took me hours and it's a goddamn miracle I didn't throw a cake at the wall when I was raging at them.

But in the end the whole day (and cakes) turned out well and now I don't have to help my sister with anything for a long ass time

My first employer finally agreed to raise my wage. However not a triumph because they met me halfway, probably made the mistake of asking what I wanted (same hourly rate than at the second employer) instead of a ridiculous amount which I'll probably do as soon as possible. Need to cash in now because some big shot has been hired for a mission at my second place of employment and his first action has been to say our wages were too expensive. Some other company also called the competition to whine they paid us too well and he couldn't keep up.

Working like this really is making me reevaluate of the Marxist class struggle as a valid reality.

I don't know how many of you are using OSX/MacOS and Safari for browsing, but I thought to toss this out here:
The first pic is what Washington Post looks like when I am both (a) using AdBlock and (b) over the permitted number of article views. I'm not certain if the article view limit is universal; a couple other sites have done it when readers are outside their native region, and they're unable to serve advertisements, so they request a subscription instead. (ELL OH FUCKING ELL)

The second picture, below, is what Safari renders that page as in Reader View. Just tap the lines-of-text icon in the address bar, or press CMD+SHIFT+R. All of that obscuring bullshit goes away, and I'm able to read without even working about layout or page-break fuckery.

One of the big Norwegian newspapers added a "Plus" service required to read certain articles. Without it, all you saw was a paragraph, followed by blurry text covered with a "subscribe now!" popup. I'm one of those people who like to dig around the system, and knew right away this would be very easy to crack. Anyway, of course I found the whole fucking thing inside the source code, black on white. The only protection they had was that it was all backwards generated sentences.

Last night we got together to play some Battlegrounds and when we jumped on Discord with her friggin Gary Whitta was in the Discord server as well. She also has played with some of the Giant Bomb people.

Welp.  One of my neighbors whose husband is a police officer just came by and told us that it seems like our area is in discussion to be next for evacuation.  The problem is that all entrances and exits to the neighborhood are not passable.  We had no standing water in the streets by me yesterday evening but the street behind me now has water up to the lawns.  The next neighborhood over has a mandatory evacuation in place.  Fuuuuuuuuuck.

They just issued the voluntary evacuation and said if the rain keeps it up tonight it will become mandatory.  They said either way the level will continue to rise until about noon tomorrow when it's expected to crest and then it'll stay that way for 5 days until all the water up North makes its way through the rivers and bayous.

I gotta say it's a little surreal.  I've been watching it on tv for two days and now i'm watching it rise up in my neighborhood.  On our community webpage no one is leaving because no one can leave.  It seems like our part of the neighborhood is in the best shape so at least there is that.  I'm getting together important documents and certain family heirlooms and I'm going to put them in one place and if things start to get bad I'll put them in the attic.  I've got my 3 beautiful, stupid dogs to keep me company but I'm worried about how I might be able to get them all out if shit hits the fan.  I guess they can go on the bed.  I never let them on the bed.  They'd fucking love that.  Stupid boys.

Yeah I've actually seen less of that than in past storms.  In Allison me and my friends went swimming in the flood waters and our parents just told us "be safe!" haha  Yeesh

I stayed up as late as I could last night.  But I woke up this morning and my street is still looking good.  Folks at the front of the neighborhood were calling people to be evacuated by boats.  They're right next to our retention ponds though.
