Thinking about looking at buying houses again. Market seems a little better than since the covid pandemic started. Prices still high, but inventory is A LOT vs a little so stuff isn't flying off as quick and prices are cooling a bit where I am.
Started looking again. Also was planning on putting 40-50% down payment and making the house an investment of my savings, but the more I read it sounds like I should just put 20% down and keep the cash around to invest in something else when I get the chance. I mean it would definitely leave me with some more savings for emergency and fixing up the new place.
Going to start on my pre-qualification letter after the holiday. Just need to figure out which lender to use. Stuff is still moving quick enough that without a letter I don't stand a chance even if I found something while looking around, so I need to get that letter first so I can make an offer if I do see something I like.
Turning 40 next month and due to covid and friends have just about given up doing anything to celebrate the big milestone, so maybe I'll get my first single family house for my 40th birthday.
Also in terms of what I'm looking for, it's fewer rooms but big open space rooms so I have lots of room to do whatever the fuck I want with them. Also I want to get one of those closet Saunas and a Japanese ceramic soaking tub to have a home spa experience. Also I'd love to have a window by the soaking tub I can open to have a pseudo-open-air bathtub. That'd be dope.
I think I need 1 bedroom, 1 home theater room, 1 extra bedroom for gf/wife/kids, kitchen+dining area+living room for hosting. I think that counts as 3 bedrooms. Not sure if they count the livingroom as a room in bedroom counts. So like 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms or something.
