This is a terribly stupid question, but: Is there a particular reason why there are so many different and required ways to cite certain sources? One class is mla, the other is apa, another is chicago, and then there is a cool teacher that says "dump the info in the back i dont give a fuck"

Yes. APA is a scientific citing style and focuses on year of publication because up to date information is more important in dealing with peer reviewed papers than author.

APA was the bane of my existence while writing my Master's Thesis.

Thanks. I kinda knew that and was just venting because I was writing papers all week for different types of classes and mixing them up. ~20 pages of APA and going to ~12 of MLA is annoying. It's amazing how lax undergrad teachers are about citations; most only cared about them for direct quotes. Now it's "WHY YOU NO CITE" for everything.

Yeah. My younger bro hasn't had steady full-time employment since coming back from Afghanistan almost two years ago. He's wanted to follow my footsteps and become a cop, but everyone slowed down their recruitment and he hasn't been able to get on any force.

He's currently an on-call mail delivery guy, plus doing his part-time Reserves work. Has been off and on Unemployment a couple of times now. and they've got a kid on the way. $:-\$

I'm not sure of the distinction, as applies to Canada. He's still a member of the Reserves. Does maybe one night a week at his local barracks, and the occasional weekend exercise.

If you mean, is he deployable back to Afghanistan, unlike the 'States, Reservists here are only sent over if they volunteer and put their names in. And while he would do so in a heartbeat, he's not willing to put the wife through it again.

So I tried watching Sherlockholms on bluray and half way though it quites and tells me that the monitor (or dvi cable) I'm using isn't HDCP complient and stops the movie. This happens about 4 times and each time I can't skip to the main menu so I have to skip though each ad individually. Finnally I get sick of it and just watched the crappy dvd rip I downloaded when the movie came out. Why the fuck am I being punished for actually buying the movie? FUCK.

edit: It looks like everything I have is HDCP complient wtf.

EDIT: and the shoes I want can't be shipped to canada

Exactly. And honestly, even if you get bumped into the next bracket, only the pay over that bracket is taxed at the higher rate. Everything else is still taxed at the lower rate(s). So as long as you have decent withholding, you'll be fine.
