Just for the record, I've spent the last 3-4 days cleaning my house by myself with a three year old following behind me trying to mess it up again.

The wife was freaking because her dad will be here with our son while we go out of town this weekend. She wanted the house to be really clean for him.

I just spent two hours doing dishes, laundry, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing a bathroom. If it ain't good enough for the old man and the old lady, I'll go by my fucking self.

But seriously, today fucking sucked.

so my wife's boss went on vacation last week and I guess before he left he didn't care to work it out with the bank to fucking pay anyone. So no one got paid. When my wife asked when they'd get paid, the other people told her "welcome to the office". She just started like a month ago and is already thinking of quitting. The guy is losing 60 percent of his clients, so his office is going down the toilet and he's apparently a really shitty manager. a nice guy, but terrible boss with no business sense. But how shitty of a boss do you have to be to not make sure everyone gets paid while you're gone? and even worse to apparently not even be the first time.

I used to work at a life insurance firm - what a fucking scam it is. The one thing to remember is: BUY COVERAGE ONLY FOR THE YEARS UNTIL YOUR KID CAN FEND FOR THEMSELVES. THAT'S IT. NO RIDERS, NO ADDITIONAL COVERAGE. Otherwise you'll pay through the nose for shit you don't need. Put your money somewhere it will grow and you can cover yourself far better than you can with life insurance. It is literally just mental health insurance to me - it prevents me from going insane with worry about what might happen to my kid if I die before she can provide for herself. The odds of this happening are still pretty low and chances are that everything I put into the policy is dead money in investment terms. But still, you sort of have to do it if you can afford it.

Since there wasn't a "what are you doing this weekend" thread, I'll just post it here.

I turned 26 on March 3rd and had a nice dinner with about a dozen of my closest friends yesterday. Great times, one of the better times I've had in recent memory. Also a family member gave me a $1000 check, which surprised me

I can't smoke weed anymore. Or specific types of weed. I hate the high I get from it. I get paranoid and I can't stop thinking. It drives me nuts. I have bad reactions with weed. Or maybe it's the weed I smoke. Either way, I quit. I'll have the ocassional blunt now and then but that's it. I'd take weed more, preferably cooked (brownies) but I'm worried about that paranoia high i spoke of.

Man, medicine is expensive in the US. I've had this cold that became sinus cold since monday and I went to the walk-in because I've slept all over 2 hours for the last two nights because I couldn't breathe through my nose and he gave me anti-biotics+nasal spray steroids+decongestion stuff and it was like $140

Then again if I'm able to sleep again, it'll be worth the money.

Girl my sister hyped up that is "perfect" for me, we were supposed to go out this past weekend, that didn't end up happening, and I don't see it happening as the whole reason my sister wanted it to be this weekend is because she starts a new job today and won't see her anymore.

So, so much for that.

Plus, I'm still on good terms with girls I dated and the last one set her status to "In A Relationship". Which is a huge bummer, cause they all found someone. I guess I could have just settled with someone I met, not like the option wasn't there.

Last night was ridiculous. I worked the ER for 12 hours after coming home from spending the weekend in Gatlinburg. What do I return to? A 16 year old wrecks his truck and we have to work him until the ER doc calls the code, then a 19 year old girl who's been hiding her pregnancy from the world has her baby in her bed last night and then passes out for two hours. EMS brings us the baby and we do CPR on it for over an hour. The total was 1 death, 1 near (probably) newborn death, and one distinguished mentally-challenged 19 year old who wouldn't quit bleeding.

I'm exhausted.

And I stopped "looking" for someone, hoping that old adage was true, and yeah, things do seem to fall in to my life, but they just don't to work out. Its getting kind of annoying.

Its completely evident how lonely I am now that I'm sick too. No one is checking in on me or anything. Everyone is too busy with adulthood. I suppose after 8 years, autonomy is a hard thing to acquire.

But really, not looking and focusing on other things is the right thing to do. I'm not condoning being oblivious and passing up opportunities because you're not paying attention, just not making it a focus of your life.
