that kind of shit can be really tough to deal with. on the one hand you don't want to be the asshole that fucks up an existing relationship (either your own or someone else's). on the other hand you're potentially denying yourself something really good because you're scared to take the risk. i know i've definitely had a few situations in my life where i didn't pursue something out of fear of hurting the person i was already with, and all i ended up with is more time in a relationship i wasn't happy with.
