harsh, but untrue. looking at it from a probability perspective - there's a lot of women out there. undoubtedly there are a fairly large number of females that are better looking than this "sara jay". based on the person, this number may go up. for me i would say the number of females i perceive to be more attractive is extremely high as I find "sara jay" to be incredibly unpleasant to my eyes. we can use the concept of life in the universe as an example. considering the astronomical size of the galaxy and the sheer number of stars/planets, the probability of life in the universe is nearly a guarantee. the same logical can be applied to this scenario. i may not be a suave debonair but there must a female out there dumb enough to put up with my stupid shit. and the chances that she is better looking than "sara jay" is very high considering nearly any female in the wild would meet that criteria.

I'm hoping to get a book finished by the end of the year. I'm considering going the kindle self-publishing route, but I'll be promoting the hell out of it online if I do.

I'm nabbing up all interview possibilities anywhere I can, submitting the book to as many book review blogs as possible, etc. I've been doing this every. single. day. while simultaneously working on the sequel, The Dream Cosmopolitan, which I want out by Christmas.

So I'm drinking

Why?

Because even though I've been at my job for 4 months now, I've been doing paperwork and some courtwork and some research but always on other people's cases.  I write the arguments, the motions, the questions, but the face to face phone negotiations hasn't been my thing.

Today I got my first phone call from the opposing side in this $170,000 lawsuit I filed a few months ago.  Here I was on one side, my first truly solo case at this small 3 person firm, and on the other side was this 20+ year experience attorney at this multi-million dollar big firm retained by one of the huge insurance companies.  And he was talking real friendly and what he said made sense and was sensible so I was just kind of going "nod nod nod, that's understandable, nod nod nod, I'll need to consult my clients before making that decision" and HOLY SHIT WAS IT NERVE RACKING.  I was thinking "Is this guy playing me because I'm new to this; he seems so friendly and understandable" and so I was trying to be neutral and accommodating and not commit to anything until I'd done more research.  So after a 30 min phone call where we talked about A LOT, I consulted with other lawyers and apparently I did a pretty good job.  But still, NERVE RACKING.  Honestly, it's fucking scary to know that someone's $170,000 is on the line and everything you do or say could blow it. 

It gets easier in time, but my first case so far is complex and medium-sized and freaky!

So I felt like I needed to drink afterwards to calm my nerves down a bit.  Had a couple of beers so far.  Might have a 3rd, but I need to get into work early and follow up on this case with this guy so I need to have my SHIT TOGETHER from the am.

Ok that felt good to vent.  Being a lawyer is 90% about putting on a poker face and having confidence that you are the shit.  The thing is that 90% of your opponents have been doing this for 20-40 years and when it's your first case it's like a guppy entering the pond with the sharks.   

Anyhow, thanks for being good listeners.  I <3 you guys.  Especially Wrath since it's his birthday and he gets double love from me.

There is a problem with my mom's computer: when I try to turn it on, the power turns on and the fans spin, but it shuts off afterwards.  I believe the PSU is dead.  It is a Dell from 2003, so the question becomes:  Should I try and replace the power supply ($30, and I'm not certain if that is the problem) or save for a Wal-Mart emachine (~$300)?  She only uses the computer for email and Facebook (and downloading toolbars which make it sluggish )

Went and spoke with my adviser at the college this morning.  She told me that to get into the nursing program, I would need to do a lot of work.  First off was that my transferring credits from my old college were a joke (but thankfully my GPA didn't transfer with it  ).  Also, she recommended that I knock out all or most of my gen ed requirements before even applying, because I had no chance of getting in without them.

Basically, it's looking like it's going to take me 4 years to do a two year program all because of the program requirements and the slim number of people that get accepted to the program.  And I'm just going to have to sit and take it, because this is just about the most affordable college in the state...

so i'm having this milk shake and i get to the bottom and when i scoop some out i feel something really lumpy and solid in my mouth. for a single second i assumed it was a frozen piece of ice cream... but it was actually a cherry. that's fine that it's a cherry but i didn't know there would be cherries in this milk shake. so when i bite down on the solid lump and i feel the cherry skin offering resistance and the eventual bursting open of the cherry i had a serious moment of terror because i didn't know what the fuck i just bit into.
then i realized it was a cherry and everything went better than expected

He's an IP lawyer and a movie producer and more and more he's becoming the PIRACY IS THE ROOT OF ALL PROBLEMS guy.  All he does is bitch about torrent sites and people who run them and movie downloaders and how they are useless to society and government needs stronger laws to control the internet to fight piracy.  And he throws off figures like "PIRACY HAS COST MY MOVIE $100,000+" to date (ps, it's a small indie movie that no one downloading would probably actually pay money for).  He won't listen to reason and it's really fucking annoying since I'm an anti-internet-regulation guy.

It's like if you grew up hanging out with weed smokers but your brother is boogie.


I'm going to send him some Gabe Newall articles on piracy.
