I'd play JSRF again if I could disable certain songs on the soundtrack.  :'(

I loved that Birthday Cake song. God knows how it wound up on the soundtrack but I'm glad it did

:rock

Too bad they ruined the tagging and removed police chases in JSRF, otherwise I would have liked it more than the original. The giant stages were a lot more fun to explore imo.

Speaking of JSRF, 360 emulation of it is far from perfect. Playing JSRF on my xbox for the first time in years a few months back was great. I got entirely too used to the frame rate shit storm of 360 emulation.
I've been playing it recently on my original Xbox.

You got to take care of your hardware Himu  8)

Yep, I still have my original xbox and playing JSRF on it is love

I actually like this when playing JSRF but outside of JSRF? Ugh. For some reason, grinding rails and spray painting walls makes any song sound awesome

Uh its incredibly slow and unfun, does that make sense?  If the game was solely based around tags then there would be no reason for the whole rollerblading aspect.

Sounds to me like you went in with pre-emptive bias rather than accepting the game for what it is. The game is slower than what you wanted, so because of that reason it's not as good as others think it is?

The game is based around tags and acquiring points. Roller blading merely lets you get to some areas easier. Like this:

How is this slow and unfun? :rofl

Oh lord I've upset the orthodoxy of opinion it seems!

Post all the youtube videos you want guys.  I clearly remember playing if for myself and it being frustrating.  Now, a new sequel would be something to applaud.  I like the basics and think there are many great ideas!  The original game just lacks polish and makes so many mistakes that I'm not willing to overlook.

edit: aaand the videos do nothing to disprove my points whatsoever.  Its a guy doing a speedrun who knows exactly what to expect and where he needs to go.  Doesn't change the floaty jumps, annoying hit detection, slow grinding speed, etc, motherfucking etc.

Uh, don't have an xbox anything.  I kinda liked the gba game.  It was an isometric rendition of the dreamcast version and played well enough.  The momentum carried you much better in that game and the controls felt better.

At least in a video, the game doesn't look that fun.  you don't get mind-boggling speed and there's not all that much exploration (at least in that area) but maybe the combos are uber-complex and satisfying?

You have x amount of time spray tags. In later levels, they mix 4-5 levels into one mega level and it's your job to spray all the tags before the clock runs out. If you want to get the highest score in all the stages, planning out what tags to get in what order equates to planning out whole levels and the best routes while taking out tags for strategic value. What makes the game fun is the level design, it's just really satisfying.

Also, if running away from helicopters while spray tagging walls on roller blades as awesome music plays in the background isn't fun to you I don't know what to say, something is wrong with you.

Floaty jumps? JSR is all about momentum. You will go slow on rails if you don't use momentum and speed. Likewise, the same applies to jumps. You have float jumps that result from being standstill and you have air jumps that have speed. Also the hit detection is rarely a problem.

Anyways, those things sound like nitpicks to me and don't sound like actual complaints.

I always love it when Nintendo fans bring up "lack of polish". "Lack of polish" usually equates to "This game isn't a nintendo game!!!".

Here's the thing though. The controls in JSR have a learning curve. By bitching about the controls, you are showing weakness. The controls have a learning curve, but they are by no means bad. Such self-entitlement is common among Nintendo fans. "Oh this game has some controls that take getting used to. Guess it ain't perfect like Mario!!!"

I never played JSR, but if it controls the same as JSRF then there's absolutely nothing wrong with the controls.

I need a working OG Xbox controller and component cables so I can finish this game. I don't wanna start over on my 360, especially if the emulation sucks like you said. :(

Like I said, I either played through the game to the end or one of the last stages.  I'm well aware of the intricacies of the controls and what they lack.  So don't tell me I just never conquered the learning curve, cus I did and trudged through the game anyway.  And I don't think you know what self-entitlement means duder.  That was entirely the wrong context to use it in.

Too bad, most of your problems were addressed in JSRF.

This looks really boring.  Its like 3d sonic almost with all the rails and repetitive voice samples.  Surely all of the levels aren't like this, right?

Microsoft mentioned that they were working on a Dreamcast emulator for the 360, guess we're finally going to see it in action.

I enjoyed JSR back in the day, although I hated the stupid boss levels where you had to chase people around and tag them.

JSRF's level design is much less...tight than JSR's. The fun in JSRF is finding the tags, because they're all over the place in hard to reach places. In JSR the fun is beating the clock and getting high scores.

Anyways, yes it looks like 3d Sonic. But I would wager that both JSR and JSRF are 3d Sonic done right.
