Who the fuck doesn't eat for taste? I tend to like most, if not all vegetables that aren't brusslesprouts, and I have dislike milk my whole life. MOST healthy food is delicious. Milk is gross.

One of my main problems with The Biggest Loser (besides the contrived part of the game existing outside of real life which is unavoidable) is that they focus so much on exercise and so little on nutrition.  I get that they like to sell their cookbooks and diet plans and not give the secrets away for free on the show, but in my opinion and as others have touched on in this thread, it's at least 75% diet, if not more as a key to losing weight.

Working out is great for building muscle, strengthening your body and cardiovascular system, great for battling depression, it's awesome.  However, you cannot counteract lunch and dinner at McDonalds with an hour a day in the gym.  A lot of people get frustrated because they go into the gym and alter their food intake so little, and bust their asses for an hour or more a day for a month and see little results.  Or see results for the first month before tailoring off.

Most people eat way too much food and that is a much bigger problem than a little less activity than our grandparents had.  The combination of the two is lethal as this generation is finding out.

Eat food that spoils, eat until you are not hungry anymore.  Try to get as much protein as possible.

Of course I love reading what works for others as well.

Cut down on dairy products.
wat
He's just cutting down,  I don't think he's avoiding all dairy.

Right.  I cut down on dairy.  I can have up to 6 oz. of dairy products daily.  I'll usually have a bowl of cereal in the morning (1 cup of milk) and then might use up the rest eating different kinds of cheeses, either as a snack or using shredded cheese in a salad.

The plan on I'm also allows for me to have 200-300 "free calories," meaning I can use that much to eat whatever the hell I want if I feel like it.  So if I wanted more dairy, I could make use of that.

I didn't eat lunch today (had a late breakfast), and had a broccoli+cheese sauce pasta mix (two cups of pasta) around 5:30.  Right now I am eating a Caesar salad I made with reduced fat feta cheese, ham, green onions, and a little bit of turkey pepperoni and reduced fat genoa salami.  And it all fits into my diet so I can eat it guilt-free.  Gonna hop on the treadmill for a bit after I'm done.

Cereal?
Pasta?
Low-fat options?

duuuuuuuuuude

I don't normally like fish unless it's Sushi/Sashimi.  It sounds :uguu but I can't help it.

I was similar (fried and raw only) but I think it has to do with the way the fish is cooked and the smells released.

If fish is fresh enough, the cooking method is largely immaterial. It's only rancid shit that needs to be battered, breadcrumbed, deepfried and covered with sauce to make it palatable.

Doctor has told me to cut the carbs out for a month, enforced diet here we come!

Time to hit the meat and cheese aisle on my bacon scooter !

Weight loss here we come

Cereal?
Pasta?

yup - all of these would lead to massive weight gain for me.  Cereal would be a disaster!

Some high-fiber, low-sugar cereals are OK but they obviously don't taste so good.

Come back here when you've found a low sugar cereal, Smooth Groove.

DCharlie, don't go mad on the cheese for god's sake. Most cheese is crap.

Congrats on the weightloss, good to see you kept at it. Still hitting the elliptical every now and then? I've been slacking on that front myself.  :P

I haven't touched it in months. When the weather got good, I just started walking around the lake instead. Since I have a car, I find myself just getting out and about - seems to burn the calories.
