yeah, it's nice to see a video game associated with Natal/Move, but I didn't like Kameo 1.

# The Star Wars game was pretty badass-looking -- you play a Jedi, rushing down stormtroopers and deflecting laser bolts left and right, wielding a few Force powers, and confronting a certain deep-voiced Sith Lord for a one-on-one duel. Based on the gestures and action we saw, though, it was a pretty heavily scripted experience. Still, there's no scripting a two-handed light saber grip, and that particular action looked like everything we've ever wanted in a Star Wars game.

# The yoga game is actually a pretty smart use of the infrared and joint detection software we espied previously. Positions were "checked" by points on the joint -- making it certainly harder to fake the moves on Wii Fit -- and it seemed to have a tai chi element to it. Your avatar glowed a more intense red based on your three-dimensional approximation -- bright red for hands stretched forward, for example.

Kinectimals impressions from game informer

I returned from the strangest video game-related event of my life, and now I'm going to write about rubbing virtual cats with Microsoft Kinect. During Microsoft's Cirque Du Soleil event tonight in Los Angeles, a young girl demonstrated a virtual pet game featuring a fully interactive tiger cub.

This appears to be the first glance at Kinectimals, Microsoft's controller-free pet simulator. On stage a young girl motioned to her pet tiger, which responded accordingly. When she jumped, the tiger mimicked her, often to disgustingly cute results. Fetch, jump rope, and playing dead were also among the critter's repertoire. When the two were done playing, surrogate hands appeared on the beast as the girl gave her furry friends a rub down. The tiger responded realistically, folding its ears back, closing its eyes, and moving contentedly.

Overall the game seems to share a lot in common with Nintendo Dogs. The first-person P.O.V. and the animal's movements seems reminiscent of the Nintendo DS game, obviously replacing the stylus with your own hands.

After the two were done with their playful hijinks several other wild cats showed up. Among them were a puma, snow tiger, leopard, lion, lynx and others. Though the official name of the game is Kinectimals, so far only we've only seen cats. There's nothing wrong with a game all about playing with digital cats, but we're still waiting for an eel simulator.

The tiger responded realistically, folding its ears back, closing its eyes, and moving contentedly.

Even ign is liking it

I'm not going to lie, there are a lot of people at IGN right now excited about this game. It's one of the cuter games to ever grace the Xbox platform. This is a virtual pet game -- think NintenDogs, only with tigers and lions.

Kinectimals was visually impressive, though I'd have to say up front that it clearly won't be a game for everyone. The demo consisted of a player interacting with an on-screen tiger by doing things like petting it, tossing it a ball, and teaching it to hop up and down along with you. Several other types of cats were shown including a tiger, lion, and bobcat.

For me, the highlight of the evening was watching Ninja Gaiden creator Tomonobu Itagaki walk into the event in his white robe, taking in the scene behind his traditional sunglasses. He looked around a few times, stood quietly for a few moments and then turned around and left.

Well, E3 2010 has officially kicked off with Microsoft's debut of Kinect (formerly Project Natal) at a glitzy event at the Galen Center. To say I was disappointed with Kinect would be putting it mildly. After waiting at the Galen Center for a couple of hours, other than the name, Kinect, nothing was revealed except a handful of pre-recorded demos where actors clearly pretended to control the on-screen characters (avatars) with their own body movement. At several points the avatars would move before the actors did, ruining the illusion of a real live demo of Kinect. This body-synch debacle makes Milli Vanilli's legendary lip-synch outrage look tame by comparison.

It feels more advanced than Wii Sports, to make the obvious comparison: for a start, if you really want to be zany and wacky, you can hold the ball out in front of you and simply toss it forwards for some "interesting" results
