I feel bad for the dudes at Raven, they can't seem to ship anything that gets people excited anymore. I wonder how much better their stuff would be with more budget, it always feels like they're holding back

Definite pass on this. I am getting sick to shit of shooters and the gimmick doesn't seem to be worth suffering for another 8 hours of man shooting

You'd be right, actually.  Their staff and budget WAS cut massively halfway through production.

Dude, the first gameplay movie I saw of this game was a guy picking up a crushed barrel, then aging it backwards so it turned into a brand-new exploding barrel. Then he threw the exploding barrel at a door and it blew up and he went through it.

I don't think its that bad. I played about an hour of it on the PC. It's definitely an ugly game relatively speaking and there isn't a lot new in there but the execution is solid. The gun play is mostly solid. And the TDM stuff while as scripted as I expected is still kind of fun.

I'm not saying its anything I would buy, but its not awful in my opinion. At worst (or at best) its just pretty average.

Just played the first hour or so of Singularity for a Quick Look. It really drew me in, can't wait to get home and get going on it for real.

I've played it enough to say its pretty much an average game. There are plenty of games worth virulently hating but I'm not clear why this is one of them.

I've certainly had more fun playing this so far than I did Bioshock 2 or Splinter Cell Conviction to pick two random games that came out this year.

It's definitely better than Wolftenstein.

It's really like a mish mash of Half-Life and Bioshock. Its not as good as either of those games (although the gun play is better than Bioshock) but its decent.

rented this and have been playing today, it's...okay

absolutely fucktarded plot, with a "twist" they pretty much give away in the first five minutes and then act like it's a surprise midway through the game

time powers are neat, but switching around is a bit cumbersome

"puzzles" are simplistic but kind of neat with the time manipulation spin

also, some things are automatically picked up when you walk over them and some aren't, and that's just stupid

it's not better than wolfenstein, that was its own game with its own rules which made sense within the world, this is half-life 2 with bad russian accents (even the chick who "helps" you is dressed is a similar fashion to alyx) and a lot of nonsensical bullshit

Well this notion that everybody is leaving these sort of confessional audio logs around is also a bit weird but its a gimmick most people just accept nowadays as a base mechanic. Ala buying shit and leveling it up. It existed before but Resident Evil 4 seemed to bring it out into the spotlight in a big way.

Wow. I've been out of touch about Raven's situation. I am a fan of their older stuff, but am completely not up on their current works. This is sad.
