Where's Stoney?

I hopped on battlefield after my last post to take out my aggressions. It was obvious Miami didn't have it tonight and were going to get worked at that point. At halftime they could and should have been down by 20. They were playing that poorly.

They are in deep shit. And I think the Spurs are the better team. Just like the Mavericks were.

I didn't actually get a chance to watch this game unfortunately. Something came up. Looking at the Box score it seems like Wade finally had a good game and the big three in general all played well.

Lebron, you will give the Heat an ideal to strive towards.  Your teammates will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders

Did the rest of the Heat finally join Lebron in the sun?

Uh-oh, LeBron wore his camouflage vest to the game. Soldier Mode. That must've been why Spurs had no chance.
9:32 PM - 13 Jun 2013

LeBron just scored 9 in last 4 minutes of a blowout (including a 3 w/ 22 secs left) vs Nando de Colo and Matt Bonner. Now that's greatness.

As far as the finals series, who knows. I bounce around from game to game. It seems like either team could win which is good for basketball.

Looking at Miami last 11 games in the playoffs which dates back to the start of the pacer series, its been alternating Win then loss every game. They haven't won (or lost for that matter) 2 games in a row since the Chicago series. It's been a very inconsistent stretch which obviously is partly due to the level of competition.

I get the feeling the Kings will be pursuing Iggy in Free Agency. The question is whether they can afford him. They'd need to amnesty Salmons and it may endanger resigning Tyreke.

Miami defensive lapses combined with San Antonio's great execution is what seems to be doing them in this series. And Miami's habit of taking it easy and then playing hard and aggressive at stretches is also dooming them. If they want to win the next two games they have play locked in and focused from the tip and most of the game. That's their only chance.

On the BS report they mentioned that LeBron's average shot distance has increased in every round of the playoffs.  By the third quarter he was looking seriously gassed.

If the Spurs manage to close this out, that Greg Popovich fine from the regular season might be the best quarter million dollars spent by an NBA team in decades.

I'm not sure what to say about the heat. Even if they come back and win the title which seems unlikely at the moment it just seems the team has a lot of flaws that both the Pacers and Spurs and the Mavericks from a couple of years ago have exposed. It's elite level flaws that only matter against the very best teams but they still matter. It's not all the same flaws in some cases but the inability to cover the 3 against ball movement is one.

It seems like they got lucky running into the Thunder last year who is a team very similar to them. Very athletic. Not the best system in the world. Not the best coach in the world. And they out gunned them.

They've stumbled against two great systems with two great coaches in the Spurs and the Mavericks.

I also think Spoelstra is scrambling around with substitutions trying to find anything that works. He has no clue at this point. Mike Miller has played 46 minutes in the last two games. 0 points.

Birdman has been banished to Joel Anthony land with 2 straight DNP even though Manu and Parker were strolling to the rim tonight.

Spoelstra rarely makes any good in game adjustments. It's all reactions from the prior game.

Lebron having to do so much against the Pacers and the Spurs getting an extra week of rest are probably the biggest reasons why the Heat are down 3-2.

Deserves got nothing to do with it.

I think the Heat circa the streak were the best team in the league, but peaking during a point in the regular season doesn't get you the title.  Wade, Battier, and I think LeBron are worse now than they were then, and not just because of how the Spurs have been playing them.  When you factor in last year's compressed schedule and title run, the Olympics eating into any offseason recovery, and another run to the finals against some really physical teams, it's not surprising that they're really hurting or fatigued.

And yeah, "nobody's 100% at this point in the season" but there's a difference between carrying a bit more soreness and, for example, what Steph Curry was dealing with after the first game of the GSW/SAS series.  Pop's management of the team's minutes (and the extra burn it gave for bench players who might have to occasionally take on bigger roles) during the regular season has probably benefited the team in the Finals as much as any decisions he's made during the series itself.

I don't think hurt or fatigue have anything to do with putting Ray Allen on Danny Green or having LeBron not be more aggressive offensively. The Spurs seem to just be a better overall team, and so far the Heat haven't really adjusted.

I just think the Spurs play really good basketball. Very solid all around with amazing ball movement on offense. That's going to be tough to beat no matter what and ball movement has always been kryptonite to the Heat.

LeBron took 15 of his 22 shots in the paint?  Plus he had 9 FTA's, almost his total from the first four games?  His problem wasn't getting to the rim, it was finishing there.

I'm not sure what Heat need outside of a monster game from Wade, Lebron. I would definitely expect Birdman to play more. And the heat have to be aggressive from jump. Not go through that shitty feeling out process they seem to start every game with.

I don't expect a game 6 versus celtics type of lebron, but I do expect 30+ points for him.  He was getting good looks inside last game just not hitting a damn thing.  Maybe Crawford will call the fouls more often in this game than the last.  That's not a favorable thing but Lebron does rely on that quite a bit.

They also need a fresh miller and allen.  Have those two come off the bench near the end of the first to counter anything green has piled on.  Spo's reasoning for starting miller was logical but still unwise – counter danny green with your own solid 3-point shooter.  And yet, Miller has been too focused on defense as a starter to get any decent looks.

Birdman on the inside with rebounds is key too.

I expect a pretty easy win for the Heat tonight, to be honest...97-89 Heat or something like that.  Not "easy" but a comfortable win.

Game 7 is gonna be bananas though

The ESPN stories are not surprising because J.A. Adande and Ramona Shelburne are both LA based writers and Kobe/Lakers fans

It's interesting that ESPN would have two LA homers writing on the Heat's struggles when they have more qualified people readily available
