Not surprising. Probably actually better since it will mean more minutes for Odom.

Also Doc says Shaq is playing in Game 3.

They were talking about the Lakers using Artest to try to slow down Dirk, but nothing really came of that.

Well the convention wisdom use to be just muscle dirk around since he was soft. But in the last few years he has just been shooting over people anyway.

And it helps when you can release from the crazy angles he takes some of his shots.

Man, that Lakers loss *almost* makes up for the Celtics taking it in the ass. :bow these playoffs :bow2

The crazy thing is that we haven't even had a game 7. Every series and every game remains compelling anyway.

The funny thing is that if you ask most people who has the better chance of winning their series between the Celtics and the Lakers, most people would say the Lakers even though historically they are in the far worse position since they lost their home games and the Celtics haven't lost any home games yet.

I feel like the Celtics gave a closer approximation of their best games than the Lakers did though. And we know that Dallas can fold after being 2 up in a series. (ok, ancient history but still...)

I basically hate the Celtics' bench now. None of them are any good. Big Baby was great most of the year but has sucked for several months for some reason. He can't finish plays. Everyone else has that fear in their eyes. Granted, the Heat's bench is ghastly too, but they don't have to do a whole lot. I'm glad Shaq is coming back but he would have to be in mid-season form and give them at least 20 mins a game from here on to really make a difference. It's basically all on Rondo to step up, because he's the one unstoppable weapon the Heat have no answer for. We haven't seen Rondo's best yet, not remotely.

Playoffs are bananers so far.  Didn't expect the West to be quite this volatile.

I do find myself rooting for the Celts to at least make it a series.  Don't mind the Heat as much as a lot of people do, since my browsing and viewing habits have kept me away from a lot of the hype.  Honestly, DRose sycophants have been way more annoying than anything else this year, including Bill Simmons' ridiculous campaign to diminish Dwight Howard's accomplishments by pointing out that he's not Young Shaq.

Still, can't hate on the man himself.  Rose totally reminds me of Iverson, carrying the whole offense like AI did for those defense-minded Larry Brown Sixers teams.  Speaking of which, wouldn't be shocked to see Thibodeau move on in a couple years.  Defensive taskmasters like him, Brown, and Scott Skiles seem to have a limited time before their teams get sick of them, or vice versa.

Mavericks down by 5 at halftime. This is the game to slit the Lakers throats. If they don't do it tonight, that choking feeling pressure will be immense.

They are not playing good defense. The Lakers are pounding it inside and scoring nearly everytime. Bynum is killing them with his rebounding and scoring. It will take a huge change of pace for them to win this game.

Pau Gasol is gonna get lynched when they get back to LA.

Kobe from a FG% perspective had a good game but it took him 16 shot attempts to get 17 points. I guarantee the next game Kobe shots over 30 times. And he'd better drive and gets fouls if the Lakers have any hope of winning the next game.

It's the cliche about 2-point field goals being deceptively inefficient.  Kobe didn't make any 3's and only got to the line once.  I only watched the last part of the game, but I know earlier in the series Kobe was taking a lot of long jumpers and not getting anywhere near the rim.

Gotta go check my recording of the game.  Seems like they barely got to show replays during that last stretch, and I'd love to see how Dirk made that lefty shot after driving on Gasol.

oh what a joyous last 5 mins that was :lol

Kobe bouncing the pass of Gasol's back :lol I could SEE the thought balloon saying 'I'm not passing again in this game' right there.

And sure enough a few mins later he passes up a wide-open Odom under the basket and jacks up an off-balance 20-footer. Such a happy day :lol

And now every other coach in the playoffs is breathing a huge sigh of relief at the prospect of no Lakers front line for the rest of the way. Danny Ainge particularly (even though the Heat will almost certainly take them out, it vindicates his decision to trade Perkins somewhat). The Heat have a GREAT shot at going all the way now.

Unless the Celtics have got one hell of a run left in them, it's looking like the Heat for sure. But these playoffs have been so headfuckingly amazing that I hesitate to call anything. I mean, the Hawks and the Grizzlies are still alive while the Spurs are gone and the Lakers are dead in the water. WTF.

Watching Chris Bosh play just makes me want to bitch slap him.

Also Spoelstra. Why don't you pull your head out of your ass and stop starting Illgauskas and bibby since they always play like crap at the beginning of a game and your team always starts off in a hole.

Taken from ESPN

Quote
The starting unit that includes Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Mike Bibby is now a minus-69 for the postseason.

A complete waste of space as a coach.

Two guys without the self-awareness to say "Man, I am much to spend time on this sort of BS."

Anyway, crazy MEM-OKC game.  Durant having real trouble (relatively speaking, of course) dealing with Tony Allen, and if the Thunder were a big-market team we'd be hearing stories about tension between him and Westbrook on every Sportscenter through the whole offseason.
