Cobb's ring; he only wears a ring in the dreams. In the end he isn't wearing a ring. But then there are the people who stare at him in the same way that projections do. And I do like the idea of what caused the top to wobble was the van hitting the ocean floor.

I really feel like there is enough of a case to prove, or disprove, a theory. That includes the ones that take it even further and suggest what is and isn't a dream extends past the ending.

That pretty much seals the deal for me as well. Nolan is not a sentimental filmmaker and doesn't do clean cut happy endings.

How can you say that? The ending has everything to do with the rest of the movie. I don't think you're interpreting it the way Nolan meant for it to be interpreted.

some people would still say, "bubububu maybe it wasn't a dream and they just happened to be wearing the same clothes as the last time Cobb saw them" but that seems pretty darn unlikely doesn't it?

I wish now I'd paid more attention to how the kids were dressed in the dream sequences and the final scene, but I'm really not interested in sitting through the movie again.

Well they also looked like they were the same age. How long had he been gone? I thought he was talking to a teenager when they randomly called him in Japan earlier in the film. He also says he's going to send presents back with grandpa or sometihng in that same conversation, so I guess it makes sense the old dude is there. Cobb even has a bag of presents he gives him while in Paris.

So I sent him the link to Devin Faraci's article on it from chud. He texted me the other day to tell me he commented on it and what name he used so I could check it out. Ariadne, the dream architect, is the screenwriter - she creates the world that will be entered. That leaves two key figures. Saito is the money guy, the big corporate suit who fancies himself a part of the game. And Fischer, the mark, is the audience. Cobb, as a director, takes Fischer through an engaging, stimulating and exciting journey, one that leads him to an understanding about himself. Cobb is the big time movie director (or rather the best version of that - certainly not a Michael Bay) who brings the action, who brings the spectacle, but who also brings the meaning and the humanity and the emotion.
