I buy store sauce because I'm impossibly lazy, but I generally try to pick out something like Rao's or DeLallo's over Ragu if they've got it and it isn't stupidly expensive (which it usually is). I don't think Newman's is that bad either if you're just looking to eat super cheap with minimal effort; better than Ragu, anyway.

Newman's sauces are surprisingly good. My wife is very picky with her sauces. So it used to be that I had to make it for her to like it. But I got lazy one day and picked up Newman's. We were both surprised at how decent (relatively speaking of course) it tasted.

If anyone could suggest a store pre-made sauce that is better than Ragu but around the same price or cheaper, I'd switch in a heart beat.

if we're gonna talk about shitty store-bought sauces i gotta say bertolli's is the best. they've got a good variety of flavors, an they taste better than newman's and ESPECIALLY the inedible shit that ragu sells. plus they're cheap and they go on sale often so a poor bastard like himumu can afford them.
