I liked it, it was beautifuly shot and the acting was supurb. but I cant help but think some of the characters were not dealt with properly. I dont want to say they were shallow, becuase they werent, but i felt like we only saw the surface of Joey and Deniro. The story was decent, but not great. It could have been a little shorter.

As far as boxing movies go its not as good as Rocky. And as far as Scorsese's movies go I didnt think it was near the top of his work.

I absolutely adore Scorsese, and feel he's the greatest living American director. With that said, though Raging Bull is technically immaculate, and De Niro's performance is downright scary, I find this film to be one of my least favorite Scorseses.

am nintendo: Scorsese had quit filmmaking, and was a few days short of either having a fatal overdose or committing suicide. De Niro came to him with this project and basically saved his life, and told him he needed to get back to work. As much as I hate what De Niro's become in the last decade, I'll always love him for this.

Id rank Mean Streets, Goodfellas, Last Temptation of Christ, The Departed, and especially Taxi Driver above Raging Bull.
