it's a retcon/procon/selfcon nightmare

I think the conclusion of Kingdom Hearts III is that every character was Ansem all along - as well as Xehanort (also Sora)

yes xehanort, xemnas and ansem are all the same character, xehanort is the original baddie and then he spawned those other two tough the power of plot

that seems pretty straightforward to me

it is a perfect application of "Nomura's Razor": all other things being equal, the most convoluted explanation is usually correct.

KH BBS Final Mix for Japan.  Nothing new announced so far.  Just the additions for the US version & English voices.  Doubt they're going to add a whole bunch of new stuff like KH1 or KH2 with Re:Coded almost out and 3DS announced.

Plain DS, comes out Oct. 7th in Japan.  Features a deep dive style secret FMV movie that hints towards KH3DS.  Will also have cutscenes tying BBS into 3DS.

Battle system is going to be like BBS upgraded.

Well at least it's the last crappy looking KH.  3DS should look on par with BBS.

Plus it doesn't look thaaaat bad. It's going to use PS2 in-game fmv for all the major cutscenes and it uses stupid 2d cutouts for dialogue.  In game combat is shitty 352/8 days tiny rooms with ugly graphics yeah.

the combat was pretty good, but it was the endless repetition and sterile environments that killed it.  Re:coded seems to make both better, and the combat is apparently different as well.  for the better I guess?  I don't know, I'm not following it too closely

isn't re:coded just a port of a cellphone spinoff game... does anyone seriously think a cellphone spinoff will be better than this? i bet they are going to recycle the shit out of art assets like they did for 352/8 days

anyway i'm almost done, just reached never land with aqua,i'm somewhat pissed by the fact that while they did good job giving a different boss fight to everyone, they used and abused one particular boss fight

of course not.

But it might be a game that is fun to play and adds more to the overall KH storyline.

i finished with aqua and unlocked the final episode but i'm really tempted to just youtube the ending and be done with the game,i barely leveled aqua since i was already sick to do all the optional stuff that give you the cool reward AGAIN so she's not up to par and coincidentaly she's the one who fights the final final boss.... if i wants to bring her up to the par,i have to get back to aqua save, level up her in that save, then defeat aqua final boss again and graaaaaaaaaa that's so stupid and annoying! it takes me like 2 minutes to youtube the ending, instead of doing all this save hopping

i think it was also a terrible mistake to play the whole game on critical, doing half the damage doesn't make the game harder,it just force's you to level up because you hit like a little girl

the problem is that terra does a lot of damage so playing on critical with terra seems fair, then you switch to ventus and he literaly does 4 pixel of damage for combo in later worlds,5 level later and you are finaly on par!

but really i'm more annoyed by the whole 3 character ordeal, they don't really feel much different in the end and it's a pain in the ass to relearn "once more" 3 times,or do the iron prisoner challenge 3 times,or having to grind each character to level 30,3 times

i think they did a good job since the characters visit different part of the worlds and fight different bosses, but it's not a perfect job since you still end up traversing some segments twice and one of the boss is fought like 6 times

The board game is awesome and no it's all optional.
It's Square's Itadaki Street KH/Disney style.

Turn movement speed to FAST and have fun leveling all your stuff quickly and winning awesome new magic/shotlocks/abilities

this game is so confusing

I can't beat this first boss.  I lock on, he jumps into the air, I have no idea what is going on at this point, he hurts me, there is a qte thing where I mash X, then I die.  I go again, try and block his attack (I think it was an attack, I couldn't see shit) and that does nothing.  I don't even know what is going on.  And there are so many gauges on the screen.  there is health, d-link, focus, commands, then the triangle attacks that each have their own meter.   oh, and after I die, I have to replay a little sequence again and watch a cutscene.  That's another thing I already dislike: long ass cutscenes.  This is a portable game and I want to get into the action, which I don't think I like so far, but whatever.

I guess I beat him.  My character activated super saiyajin mode and I killed it? I have no clue

I need to read the manual before I play more.  I don't even understand the goal of that board game.

You mean Fever Pitch?  It's a command style. You build it up by using your Commands and regular attacks.  It's the red gauge on the left.  If you use Commands primarily to build up the gauge you will be use your command style, which was Fever Pitch in your case, instead of using a basic finisher.

The game is pretty complicated but that's what makes it good.  It's the deepest combat in the series (and a good board game too!).  Definitely try to learn what all the systems do, it'll make the game way more fun.

Also make sure you start MELDING asap, it's where you get all your attacks.

I'm up to the third world in Ventus's campaign and I haven't started melding anything.  I've got a huge pack rat mentality with JRPGs, mastering each spell and attack command.

But I will take your advice, Bepbo.  Game is not that bad so far in terms of difficultly, so I've had no motivation.

Yeah, so you need to at least wait until you have a bunch.  3rd world probably sounds like a good time to start.  I did most of my melding after finishing the midpoint of the story in the midpoint area.  You'll know when you get there because it's the same for all 3.

Also d-links are your friends early on.  They let you use attacks you don't have yet and it's actually pretty easy to grind out the 2 items to max the d-links to the best version quickly.

is there an arena to grind out or something? I read the manual and there is that multiplayer place.

I'm still confused.  Even the manual doesn't give you a straight answer.  It's like "you can do the finish command if you fill up that bar, or by filling certain requirements you can enter a power up'd state"  wait, what are the requirements? "you can upgrade finishers by doing something" yeah, thanks for the tip, prick.

go to stats and then style and i'll tell you what are the requirement
and yes there is an arena where you can grind your heart out,it's top left from the map and you can also play it in multiplayer

as for how to upgrade your finisher the game doesn't tell you the requirements which really sucks, but they are requirement which get easily fulfilled like "kills X enemy" "walk X steps" "get X XP"

yeah, forget that.  I'm on the 4th world and this game is pretty boring.  Unless it picks up, I don't think I could bother playing with the two others.  I mean, the game still doesn't feel right because I don't have all the abilities and they want me to start without them again? do the Japanese actually enjoy this shit? at least Falcom knows how to make a fun game.

at least are each character's games short? how far am I into Terra's? I

I'll keep playing but forget trying to level up all abilities, mending, finding all items, stickers, and whatever other chores they have for you.  This game feels like work.  Long boring cutscene, some decent action, more long boring cutscene, level up this gauge and that gauge and this bar and that bar and these two circles and those two circles and these abilities and those abilities and these magics and those magics and do it again two more times.

If you just play normal and spend 1 hour grinding after Radiant Garden with each character you'll be overpowered and have all the best attacks in the game for each.

This is "not" a grindy game.

I'm having fun with this game, but much like the other Kingdom Hearts games, the combat portion really gets boring and tedious.
