Your "about us" page linked from the front page seems to be lacking in quality information.

How and why did this place come to be?

Who are the movers and shakers of this forum? I recognize many of my favorite Neogaf posters, but there seem to be many substantial forum personalities that I am unfamiliar with.

admins are cloudwalking and willco, MAF and lyte edge are the main modders (not much to it but that's their responsibility).

willco named it the hot dog bar, and that stayed as the name.

Basically, this forum was created to be a more "mat00r" and "responsible" cousin to Opa-Ages, another offset of the original Gaming-Age forums. Basically, most of the now banned elite GAFfers post here, and a few stragglers. We're happy for all the traffic we can get. $:-\$

The trade-off for coming here is that:

It gets really fucking slow. I think it's better then GAF but worse then opa-ages
People fall asleep past midnight.
Threads never stay on topic. Gaming threads do though!
Don't be too used to how things are at GAF or opa-ages, you'll either get harassed like Shake or banned for being an ass.

Yeah, harassed by assholes like Corny and Triumph. Don't sweat it, they're hardly worth getting your panties in a bunch anyway. Basically, all you need to know about this place is that certain members feel entitled to "run" or backseat mod the forum, and its okay to stand up to them if you feel so inclined.

Basically, this isn't GAF, where you will be banned for the smallest altercation with anyone.

Thanks for being so welcoming, this place seems like the perfect compromise between gaf and OA. I found out about this place while I was reading a thread in Gaf, I saw ecrofirt had been banned for something and he had the URL of this place in his avatar. I'm not that much of an addition, but at least your sacrifice wasn't completely in vain, haha.

I wasn't anyone special at gaf, but demi and I built up a good rapport.

Anyways, this thread is about the origins of evilbore. Who started it, and was there catastrophic event that culminated in the creation of evilbore, or was it more of a "gaf and oa have been sucking lately, lets make a board that does things right" kind of thing?

I think the increasing shittiness of GAF set it off. The censoring of "fuck" and bannage of fap threads was a big turning point.

It was just the increasing shittiness of GAF. Willco started the place with MAF and Cloudwalking after me and MAF got banned for a few image spamming pranks. It was roundabout the time GAF sold out to the advertisers and started clamping down on forum color and censoring the word "fuck". Opa-Ages wasn't really a place to go, since it wasn't safe for work amid all the gay porn and ogrish.com spam, and plus the many of the key folks over there are literally creeps -- like fucked-in-the-head cretins. The sane ones post here as well.

You never EVER fuck with a person's RIGHT to say "fuck". EVER.
