I think I'm getting tired of these games. Couldn't finish Layton 2 because I wanted more puzzles and less shitty cutscenes.

A lot of the puzzles in this game are extremely vague and leave out many details. And not the intentional ones either

Ok I just finished it. Here is the CUHHHHRAZY Story to Professory Layton 3

It all starts easy enough

spoiler (click to show/hide)
- Layton goes to the future and meets Future Luke, and to stop the evil Professor Layton of the future

- We learn Layton had a girlfriend who died in an explosion regarding a time machine 10 years ago

- Layton tried to find the answer to this puzzle because there was mysteriously no media regarding this explosion, but got brutally beaten and left for dead, someone didnt want him to find out why

- When we finally find evil Layton, it turns out it's actually Mr. Stahngun from the intro, or rather, Dimitri Allen, who disappeared those 10 years ago

- It turns out EVERYONE wanted to fuck Claire (Layton's bitch) - this includes Don Paolo (who turns EVIL because Layton made a move first - who's real name is Paul and also went to the same school as Layton), as well as Dimitri Allen - Claire is the whole reason this game exists, and the central tie to everyone in the fucking game

- Dimitri wants to build a time machine to save Claire from 10 years ago, he kidnapped scientists to help work on it

- We meet Celeste, Claire's younger sister, who is also trying to discover the mystery why Claire disappeared, etc.

Here's where the plot twist starts:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
- There is no FUTURE, the whole city is UNDERNEATH THE EARTH. The "time machine" is actually a giant elevator that goes up and down.

- Bill Hawks, the guy who vanished in the intro, is the reason why Claire died. He used Dimitri's machine when it wasnt ready, because a company wanted to give him lots of money for the technology behind the power source. Obviously, Dimitri doesnt like Bill Hawks.

- No, Claire didnt go in the future. She is actually dead.

- No, we're still not done! Future Luke is actually CLIVE, a small boy who lost his family from the explosion 10 years ago. Who the fuck is Clive? Why, he is but a small boy referenced ONCE in a flashback from Layton.

- Clive is actually the mastermind behind everything. He built the city, he inherited a huge fortune from a lady who adopted him as a child. He joined the newspaper to get access to scientists to help build...

- A GIANT FUCKING WALKING FORTRESS for revenge on those who killed his family - Dimitri Allen and Bill Hawks

And for the grand finale:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
- PSYCH, Claire actually WAS shot 10 years into the future, to the current present time

- Celeste is actually Claire

- However, due to molecular instability, Claire is unfortunately whisked back to the moment of the blast, where she dies, as is her fate in time (Dimitri figured this out, and tried to fix her so she would remain alive in the present)

- Layton gets a bittersweet ending. He cries. It also begins to snow in London.

- Luke moves away from London because his parents are moving away. Luke cries. Cue "we will be friends forever"

i finished the game,i liked it better than 2,the sharks jump were smaller but the plot was still shaky
spoiler (click to show/hide)
"psycho enters giant robot to wreck shits because political are mean" isn't that metal gear plot? :lol :lol :lol

anyway
spoiler (click to show/hide)
you know i can buy the whole fake london in future underground to force the scientist to make a time machine plot,but... how the heck did he convince all the other people? has nobody tried to leave future london? how the heck those scientist get tricked into building the metal gear for mistake? layton takes 2 second to figure that the future layton is a fake yet it takes him the whole game to realize the same about luke, that's just stupid especialy since the whole plot could have solved by simply keeping an eye on him,i'm also somewhat pissed by the ending, the whole point of the series is that the guy explain something fantastical into a more grounded reality,so what do they do? THEY PISS OFF ON THIS RULE BY HAVING HIS GIRLFRIEND TRAVEL IN TIME SO THEY CAN HAVE A DRAMATIC ENDING!

but as i said this is still quite nice and there should be more EB playing this out

Just finished this.  Hino is on drugs.  The plot starts off great and interesting, then kind of drags pacing while nothing happens for most of the middle, then gets ultra-distinguished mentally-challenged in the end and then has a WTF HINO ending.  Plus I think about 80,000 people were killed in this game.

lol

I liked that there was more voice, more cutscenes, and the mini-games were better.  Art/music great as always.  Puzzles were ok, didn't find them as memorable as the first two games.  Definitely think it's the weakest of the 3, but has the best production of the 3.

For me 1 > 2 > 3
