Phoenix Dark's movie binge

Rented four movies for the holidays. HERE'S MY TAKE

Conan the Barbarian: 9/10

It's Conan mother fuckers. I love this movie because it really reminds me of some of the older fantasy movies from the 60's like Jason and the Argonauts or Clash of the Titans. The "special effects" are pretty spare, and because of this the movie had to rely on REAL set locations and amazing costume designs. The armor in this movie is amazing and reflects viking dress; like LOTR, it gets the fantasy atmosphere 100% right. The makers of Eragon should have watched this movie.

James Earl Jones kicks ass as usual, and Ahnold kicks even more ass. I'd love to see another Conan movie made, but I can't think of anyone who could fit his shoes.

A Princess Bride: 7/10

A rather overrated movie in my book. Suprisingly my brothers hated it; but then again they've shown little respect to 80's classics. To me, the entire movie seemed far too lazy. From the sets to the half baked dialogue, nothing seemed to grab me. Outside of a few cool parts the movie was nothing but average to me. Shrek reminds me of this in a lot of areas, but of course Shrek had a lot of forced pop culture tidbits which were at least entertaining at certain points.

DIE HARD: 9.5/10

I dedicated an entire thread to this movie. IT'S BADASS. Nuff said.

Rear Window: 10/10

Wow, this is a true classic. I don't remember the last time a movie had me on the edge of my seat for such a long period of time. The twists and turns of this movie are brilliant, and the acting is just superb. Hell, this is better than Pycho. Imo the last 30 or so minutes of the movie are just amazing, and the ending ...GO SEE IT.

After Christmas I plan on getting the rest of the Die Hard movies next, as well as another Hitchcock movie. Since my brothers are visting I can't get any over the top R rated movies (shit I must have forgotten Conan had so much sex in it).

Is Blade Runner really over the top? I don't care about violence, but is it extremely sexual/nudity/etc? I've gotta at least try to be an objective adult here lol, for my brothers :lol

Blade Runner isn't excessive, and Im glad to hear you loved Rear Window. Its my second favorite Hitch behind Vertigo. Which, if you havent, you MUST see. It also stars Jimmy Stewart, but in a complete departure from his usual golden boy role. It was Hitch's most personal film, and it tanked big time. But, like many classic films, time has been extremely kind to it, and now many like myself consider it Hitch's true masterpiece.
