Thank you Eel! I was wanting to buy that game eventually but I've run out of monies. I played a demo of it on the original Xbox back in the day and really enjoyed it but never actually bought it. You'll let me relive my childhood dreams of being a locomotive engineer!

Tried buying a bunch of stuff yesterday but steam rejected the payment transaction since I'm currently away from my primary country of residence. As a result, I missed out on a whole bunch of items on sale. Steam support actually got back to me within a day though. They have removed the lock from my account but I'll already be back in Tokyo tomorrow. Don't really want anything that's on sale today. Boo hoo.

I don't really want anything! That's why I decided to give at least a little something to each of my Steam friends over the holidays!  I had to make a concerted effort to find games I was halfway interested in to add to my wishlist, and I only did that so I a) wouldn't forget about them before the sale was over if I get Xmas money to piss away - or they plummet to a wacky 90% discount, and b) would have them there in case they decided to do another crazy "win every game on your wishlist" giveaway!

I do appreciate the thought, though!

Well you Sir are most gracious. You have my gratitude and sincere thanks! It's not everyday that you see someone actively trying to do something legitimately nice for others on the internet. I tip my hat to you.

I'll go donate some money in your name.

I do understand about the wishlist thing though I made one just for that contest. This year has been crazy for Steam Deals.

The and the Borecast/Cruncheons, your the gift that keeps giving  :-*

btw, If it wasn't for the boards, I'd have no idea who gifted it. I only noticed it today where I didn't remember buying it and it had "activate" instead of "install". I poked around looking for some kind of message that I was gifted and more importantly by whom, but nada. (probably missing something of course)

There should be a Peggle-style Joy to the World playing thanking the gifter.

Unless you click "open my gift" when you're online and the pop-up appears, or you redeem it through the email (which could end up in your spam folder), it is likely to get lost in the wind and the person who gifted it will have to resend.  It also still shows as you not owning the game until it is redeemed, which leads to people getting multiple copies of games as gifts.  Steam's whole purchase system is like some weird throwback to the 90s.

It really needs to come up as a pop-up window on load-up like those featured games thing that I always click straight-through.

And if you're are online make sure the corner pop-up is especially ostentatious.

But it does! At least in the beta version that I'm using. I don't know if it does it in all version but it does pop up in the right corner and it is in the same window for the featured games.

This time however it did not work like that. All I got was the email. But every time before that it worked.

Got ACII. $15 isn't a great deal but hey, I wanted to double-dip pretty bad on this one since I loved it on 360. I hear it's one of the best 3D Vision games so should be worth at least checking out on PC. I realize i'm a stuck record on this 3D Vision stuff but it really does make you want to replay stuff you've played before just to see how much better it looks.

Had a blast with Burnout again last night. Looks so freaking GOOD on PC! The 3D effect is great too, although all those 2D spash panels they throw at you constantly takes you out of it a bit.

Kinda sorta want Bully and Spore but not available in Japan. Trials 2 isn't as good as Trials HD, right?

Recettear is on sale? MINE.

Also kinda-sorta interested in Spore. Then I realized that I've already bought more games than I realistically will be able to play and enjoy within reasonable time restraints. Will wait for it to drop to 5€.

...come to think of it, besides Dawn of War 2 and expansions I have yet to pay more than 5€ for any single steam game I own. :bow steam :bow2
