Consumers Snap Up 1.5 Million Nintendo Video Game Systems During Black Friday Week
Value-Minded Shoppers Purchase 900,000 Nintendo DS and 600,000 Wii Systems

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--When confronted with a wide range of Black Friday retail options, U.S. holiday shoppers again turned to Nintendo. Nintendo sold 900,000 combined units in the Nintendo DS™ family of systems and 600,000 Wii™ consoles between Sunday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 27, according to the company’s internal sales estimates.

“For the past several years, consumers have decided that Nintendo defined both top value and all-inclusive entertainment, and that sentiment continues again at the start of this shopping season.”

“U.S. shoppers bought about 9,000 Nintendo hardware systems nonstop for every hour of every day during the week of Black Friday,” said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “For the past several years, consumers have decided that Nintendo defined both top value and all-inclusive entertainment, and that sentiment continues again at the start of this shopping season.”

Nintendo’s Black Friday surge was fueled by multiple new hardware colors, each of which comes bundled with games. The bundles provide a great value for shoppers who are looking to get the biggest bang for their video game bucks. These bundles, all of which are available while supplies last, include:

DS is pretty cheap gift for kids and therefore unstoppable.
3DS on the other hand,hmm...don't be surprised if DS outsells it next holiday.

3DS is gonna sell billions.. that's not a typo.

3D without glasses?  Even an Nfag hater like myself can't resist such temptation.. I haven't given Nintendo a dime since SNES yet I'll be first in line to experience the technological marvel that is the 3DS.

Nintendo dropping 3DS price within a year, highly unlikely

Not sure about DS retail price in US,but i read somewhere that there were tons of good DS deals...like $89 for DS Lite, ideal gift

Whew, good point. I forgot the cheaper price of a ds unit once 3ds will be released. I wonder how Nintendo is going to combat that.

REDMOND, Wash. — Nov. 29, 2010 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that strong demand over the Black Friday weekend has propelled retail sales of Kinect for Xbox 360 to more than 2.5 million units worldwide since it launched just 25 days ago.

“We are thrilled about the consumer response to Kinect, and are working hard with our retail and manufacturing partners to expedite production and shipments of Kinect to restock shelves as fast as possible to keep up with demand,” said Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “With sales already exceeding two and a half million units in just 25 days, we are on pace to reach our forecast of 5 million units sold to consumers this holiday.”

“Kinect on Xbox 360 was a top performer at Target this weekend,” said Nik Nayar, vice president, merchandising, Target. “We expect Kinect will be a must-have gift this holiday season, so Target will continue to receive consistent shipments of Kinect throughout December. The hands-free, active gaming experience that Kinect offers is something that everyone in the family can enjoy.”

Kinect is now available at more than 60,000 retailers in 38 countries. It is the only controller-free games and entertainment system available that lets you control games, movies, music and television with gestures and your voice. Retailers, reviewers and analysts are calling it a must-have gift this holiday season.

lol. I saw someone in the GAF thread mention that the DS sales during black friday alone nearly beat PSP's YTD (900k vs 940k).

The PSP is a really nice piece of kit, with a reasonable number of excellent games on it. It has a decent installed base, that only looks pale when compared to the Nintendo DS. I've never been able to understand why nothing ever seems to make it take off.

Yeah, the PSP's demographic is the same as the iPhone's.  Sony isn't going to win that battle.

Ah, that would be me being out of touch with the US market then. I like mine just fine, but I take a train to work. My nephews and bro-in-law use theirs when they're in the living room and can't get TV time.

PLAYSTATION®MOVE MOTION CONTROLLER SALES REACH

OVER 4.1 MILLION UNITS WORLDWIDE

Remarkable Milestone Achieved in Just 2 Months since Its Release in September

Tokyo, November 30, 2010 - Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) today announced that the sales of PlayStation®Move motion controller for the PlayStation®3 (PS3®) computer entertainment system reached over 4.1 million units worldwide*1. The milestone was reached in just 2 months since its release in September for North America, Europe/PAL territories and Asia, and 1 month since the release in October for Japan. The number not only shows clear success of the launch of the new motion sensing controller but also indicates positive momentum going in to the holiday season and to the year 2011.

PlayStation Move motion controller is used in combination with the PlayStation®Eye camera*2 to detect the precise movement, angle, and absolute position in 3D space of the user, thereby allowing users to intuitively play as if they are within the game. Delivering the most realistic and immersive experience, PlayStation Move not only captures user's motion but also player's image itself to offer new augmented reality experiences in select games.

*1 Number as of November 2010. Cumulative number since its release date, September 15 for Europe/PAL territories and Asian countries/regions, September 19 for North America and October 21 for Japan. The number does not include sales of stand-alone PlayStation®Eye camera or stand-alone PlayStation®Move navigation controller.

Move seems to multiply itself exponentially on a daily basis...they changed the counting now,no nav(it probably sells like shit, lol)
Shipped numbers of course :violin

Of course it's gonna be bundles. Who'd buy the wand without the game?

Am I missing something?  ???

yeah, I'm lost here.  The controller alone is $50 and comes with nothing.  The bundle is $100, comes with the controller, the camera (required), and the sports game collection.  If you bought everything separate it would be 50 + 30 (or 40 for the camera?) + 40 for the game.

Or are you getting a that these people are just playing alone? if that's the case, consider that some people bought an individual one for the few games that have optional two controller support.

But yeah, there are no games for it outside of the sports collection.  Only Move game I can think of in 2011 is Sorcery.

I see your point, but "lots" of people own the camera(or they can buy it for cheap),find some deal on the wand and you are set to go

Anyway this is actually the most interesting sales data in a long time

Nintendo has recently announced 60+ million Wii remotes sold in US...30+ million Wii sold

Move is like total opposite of that

There's also No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise (for those who don't have the Wii version) and Disaster Report 4 (for those who import games), but yeah, the Move lineup for 2011 sucks balls.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Even have it pre-ordered. Sounds like a lot of Wii ports in HD. At least my Move was free.
