yeah, Play-asia is so slow.  Things would be a week or two compared the day it takes from ncsx, plus they would be more expensive.  But Play-asia has more and probably operates in more areas (assuming they're shipping to Korea).

I remember liksang (the one that was shut down by sony or something) was even slower for getting import games.

yeah, opinions on that game seem to be all over the place. some people think it's awful, EOJ thinks it's the best non-Cave 360 game, and everything in between. it looks pretty decent to me though.

I only use UPS or Fedex when ordering from Play-Asia.  Yes, it's expensive, but you can easily track the package and it gets to you in two days.

Play Asia is ~7-10 days for me, but my copy of Dissidia back in December 2008 didn't get to me until mid-January 2009 thanks to the holiday shipping rush.

I typically use NCSX with Priority Shipping (ships on Thursday, gets to me on Saturday), but I know that's not an option for you poor bastards in Pleaseunderstandland.

NCSX raised the fuck out of their shiping rates.  I don't buy from much anymore because of it.  And sometimes, with either a lower price or a coupon code, I can order something from Play-Asia for about the same price and have it on my doorstep the day NCSX gets their shipment IN.

NCSX has always been fantastic to me. Their games are usually a few dollars more expensive, but even when I go for the cheapest shipping option, I always receive my packages the day after they ship. I even had Ketsui before its official release date. :bow

Play-Asia has always been very slow in my experience. I go with them when I don't mind waiting for something, but when I want a game ASAP, NCSX is always my first choice.

Same here. PA is great for older titles, but I always use NCSX for new releases.

I was going to say that not everything is more expensive at ncsx, but the example I was going to use, the neo geo pad I recently ordered on the site, is now $45 compared to the $44 on playasia.  I'm pretty sure I preordered mine at $39.  w/e.

and I do standard shipping from ncsx and it still gets here in a day or two, though, the shipping is still kinda expensive (I'm spoiled by Amazon).

Americans have different standards for what is quick.  We're about fast food, fast cars, and fast shipment of loli rape sims.

Play-Asia usually gets stuff to my Japanese address in about five days. I've not been ordering much from them since they abandoned their "Free shipping to Japan" policy, and their weekly deals have been uninteresting crap for the last couple of months.

Well, either uninteresting 360 titles or good titles on PS3, but I never turn on the PS3. Hell, Batman AA is STILL waiting to be finished; I've forgotten all the controls and will have to restart.

EOJ also thinks that Deathsmiles 2 is one of Cave's best games, and was in complete denial when those of us in Japan told him that it was a complete failure in the arcades.  I wouldn't trust his opinion on many things.  He's also thrown a few fits over stupid-ass stuff and is too overprotective of his site.

Anyway, Strike Witches is a decent game if you're a casual shooting fan and are a fan of the anime.  As I'm neither, I found the game to be a waste of time, the only way to get anything resembling a challenge is to hike it to the hardest difficult level, and even then you'll just be thinking of better games you could be playing.

Eh, I'm not too worried about the difficulty of it. Even Cave has been making easier games lately; Death Smiles and DFK are easy 1cc's (and probably Akai Katana and DS2X, but I haven't played them) but it's the scoring that keeps them fun.

Hahahaha, you're bloody crazy if you expect Strike Witches to have any kind of deep scoring system.  At least Deathsmiles is challenging if you go Rank3 into death mode, and DFK is challenging if you play Power style or try to attempt a 2-ALL in Ura loop!

Ah well, I'll look forward to hearing your thoughts on the game when you get it.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. They agreed to refund the AC order, but it'll take 3 weeks. That's almost 2 months from purchase to refund. Going to Yongsan this weekend to just buy it in person. What a waste.

Finally got my copy of Strike Witches. Not gonna play it just yet though; I think I'll marathon the anime series first so I have an understanding of the deep and complex story and characters.

You'll probably get your Assassin's Creed eventually.  PA always has really slow shipping this time of year, I knew someone who waited over a month to get a game, and I also had some long waits.  If you want to play the game badly enough, pay for the fast shipping, otherwise just wait it out.

I think some higher power is trying to tell you not to buy the game. It's obvious by now.

Maybe pretending to preorder a 3DS or something will let you get to the store unharmed, and if you sneak the game between others it might go unnoticed for long enough to allow a safe escape back home. Plan ahead and have a friend tag along to apply first aid or as diversion for rabid animals or sudden localized thunder storms that might try to get in your way.

Played Strike Witches for a couple hours today. My first impressions: No, I don't think it's the best non-Cave shooter on 360 (that would be Raiden Fighters Jet, or maybe Raiden IV), but it is a pretty solid game imo. It's not particularly hard,  but there are several bullet patterns and enemy formations that can be pretty tricky. Still, a 1CC should be pretty easy since your health refills after each stage. The scoring system is simple, but it's fun and it gets the job done. It still rewards risky play to a certain degree, since at certain points you'll be killing enemies that are on the other side of a wall of bullets, so you either let those shiny gold medals drop, or dodge through that shit to grab them. I also like how there's lots of different characters, each with their own abilities. Should be fun mixing and matching them for different team formations and such.

There's also a whole story mode with lots of text, full-screen art, and full voice acting, which is nice for fans of the series I guess. Personally, I would have preferred if they cut all of that out and sold the game for $40 or something. Or maybe $20 on XBLA.

Anyway, I like the game (for now).

Yeah, PA definitely shipped it out, they prepare their shit out fast.  It's just that when you use the cheapest option, it sits down on the docks until there's some extra space once all of the people who paid more are done with the queue, then it's just a matter of waiting for the boat to cross the ocean.  At times like these, there's a tremendous amount of both cheap and non-cheap shipping queues, so you just gotta wait until it's your turn to go in.

If you really want to play the game right away, pay for the extra shipping, you'll be guaranteed to get it in a few days.  Otherwise, no real sense complaining.
