Update the OP with news items so we don't have to dig through the whole thread if we miss it.

Well I can update the OP with the videos once those come out. As far as news I don't really follow that shit so I'll just copy over the gaf thread.

Far Away is my least favorite song from RDR.  Every song with vocals in that game sounds like whining.

They should have had an orchestra dressed like mexican banditos playing this:

Fuck yes.  I'm hyped for the Twisted Metal reveal.  Twisted Metal 2 was the game that got me hard into gaming.

Also, rumors are that MS is using this to show off adult oriented Kinect games so I'm hyped.

that e3 twisted metal stuff was obviously way early

i don't think it's wise to show any game really early in development, no one ever seems to hear when the person demonstrating says "this is a really early build" and just jumps on the "durrhurrhurr, looks turrible, ur hurr" train

Joystiq has learned from a trusted source that BioWare's enigmatic teaser from last month represents the first glimpse of Mass Effect 3. As many have guessed, the third installment looks to feature something brand new to the series: multiplayer. We're currently unable to confirm that the multiplayer component will be part of the game's unveiling at the upcoming Spike Video Game Awards.

The Spike VGAs will air this Saturday night, preceded by a good deal of internet speculation brought on by the above teaser image. As spotted by one of our commenters, Arth Vader, the gun above looks exactly like the M-29 Incisor Sniper Rifle from Mass Effect 2. BioWare has also blasted out curious QR codes via its Twitter feed, all of which indirectly reference things from the Mass Effect universe, including the Vostok system and the surface temperature of the planet Aequitas.

So, who's ready for more Mass Effect? Do we even need to ask?

I have similar feelings, shah, about improving the SP. I know EB loves ME2, but on multiple playthroughs that shit is just awful. I played through ME at least 5 times, enjoying every minute of it and I'm struggling to enjoy ME2 on just my second playthrough.

I admit the highs of ME2 best its predecessor, the lows are much more trecherous. I'd take awful driving segments and a handicapped inventory system in an ARPG over mindless planet scanning and a mediocre TPS with RPG elements.

The inclusion of multiplayer in ME3 however doesn't really bother me. It doesn't make much sense outside of "EA wants money" so I can see why it's getting backlash, but it's unfair to assume it's going to have a negative effect on the SP experience.

Bioware ain't dumb. The MP will have very little effect on the development of the SP even though I can already predict that's what a certain segment will say when the game comes out.

And since I actually like shooters games, I'm potentally interested in it.

Anything that wasn't exactly like Hulk UD was, not surprisingly, crappy. I actually looked forward to the game because I liked Hulk UD, but I didn't realize at the time that they would simply make Hulk UD again, sans Hulk.

Oblivion's engine was actually pretty good.  Most of the graphical problems had to do with Oblivion not knowing how to make normal looking people.  Luckily, the modding community did a really great job at alleviating most of those problems.  I still don't get how a bunch of amateurs were able to get so much better results than a team of pros getting paid millions.

A team of amateurs can focus on perfecting one thing and not have to worry about things like budget, returns, or time constraints. Would be nice if Bethesda got some better character artists though.

I'll play Elder Scrolls 5 no matter what but it would be a huge bummer if its on the same engine. That thing feels like its held together by duct tape and spit.

Morrowind, Oblivion, 2 Fallout games. Enough.

It would be nice to play something by them that actually felt somewhat polished and a little cinematic.

No doubt that was cool but for every moment like that, I can think of 10 in each of those games where they fucked it up completely and their weird ass presentation lowered the quality of my experience.

I get that since its so open world its never gonna be this absolutely smooth experience but I'm hoping they at least concentrate on that a bit this go around.

I should have left out morrowind but I was more saying all their games feel exactly like. None of their games ever feel right on the presentation side. Playing Fallout New Vegas right now and I'm like I just couldn't stomach another one of these with the exact same flaws.

I think if you're expecting this from a Bethesda game, then you're only ever going to be disappointed. They make games with big worlds that are perfect for exploring, for fighting monster out in the hills and the forests, finding out of the way places and seeing what's going on in the next town. Not about having awesome cinematic moments and polished presentation.

I'm not saying that I wouldn't like some of that in my Bethesda games, I'm just saying I don't think it'll happen.

My bar isn't necessarily Bioware. I don't they will ever make games like that. But there has to be a way to do better than what they have done.

It may not even be the engine per se although I do specifically think that engine is showing its age. Maybe even if they had id tech stuff behind them it would turn out all janky because that's not their skill set.
