The best thing about Bethesda games is that they are so easily moddable. And it's really interesting to see what the community can do with the games.

By the way, Nehrim: At Fate's Edge is a pretty cool total-conversion mod for Oblivion.

despite the controversy i thought capcom did a good job with the non-infected black people in RE5

What the crap is that SSX mess.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
SSX Deadly Descents Game Info

Redefining the SSX franchise, SSX: Deadly Descents will pit riders versus both mountain and man. Players will explore the story of a team who seek to be the first to descend the faces of the most treacherous mountain ranges on the planet. The team will travel the world to face the worst that Mother Nature can throw at them. From the peaks of the Himalayas, where the air is so thin that riders have to descend through the death zone at breakneck speeds to keep from blacking out, to the solid ice ranges of Antarctica, where a sunlit line is the only survival option when temperatures drop 50 degrees centigrade in the shade. And the mountain isn’t the only danger players will face. In SSX: Deadly Descents the first goal is to survive. The second, in true SSX fashion, is to look good doing it.

So anyway, next year's purchase list is finalized, pending delays.

Gears, Dragon Age, Mass Effect. 3-2-3. Year of the Mazda, apparently.

they don't do black people very well, they always look like their bodies are covered in soot or something

To be fair almost no game devs do black people well outside of basketball games. It's a damm shame.

 :'(

Funny you mention that.  My friends, both hardcore Lakers fans, were complaining during NBA2k11 that Kobe looked a freak compared to Gasol.

Yeah, it's a damn shame that Mass Effect 2 isn't moddable.  Mods that make the Citadel feel more populated and lively would be so awesome.

I gotta disagree. Especially with the NBA 2k series. They generally do black people very well. The resemblance may not be there in some cases but it still tends to look like a good face. The white guys are the ones that tend to suffer in the 2k series for some reason. They've never gotten Dirk right once ever for instance. He always looks like a freak.

Didn't notice anything like that. It's a whole new game set inside a brand new gameworld. The first hour or two has you trying to find a way out of a dark, maze-like cave full of cave trolls. There's also some neat little missions in the first area after you get out of the cave as well. I haven't played it as much as I'd like, maybe about 4 or 5 hours so far.

That would be great. They did it with Dragon Age, but Mass Effect is still a closed-set, unfortunately.

Jordan is spot-on though.  It's amazing how they got all his trademark expressions and body mannerisms.

I expect to sit down on the morning of November 11, then look up at the clock to see that 4 hours has passed, then feel a guilty twinge at having sat there that long, then get something to eat, then do it all over again that afternoon.  Just like I did for Oblivion.

I will do that, it's looking like I might have the entire week of Christmas off to dick around and play games!

Are there any issues using it with the Steam version?

No, it works with Steam. There's some extra steps for the getting it to work with Steam version though:

Quote
Installation (if you have Oblivion by Steam)
• Steam is a little rigid concerning its copy protection. Unfortunately, due to that feature you
can't have Nehrim and Oblivion installed separately, so you will have to overwrite Oblivion
with your Nehrim installation.
• First create a copy of your Oblivion folder as a backup. You can find this in the folder
Steam/SteamApps/common.
• Now you can execute the Nehrim installer, choosing any place on your harddrive for
installation.
WARNING: If you are using Windows Vista or 7, then please do not install Nehrim into one of
the Program Folders (Program, Program Files, Program(x86), Program Files (x86)). Because
of the Windows security checks this can cause problems.
• When the installation is complete, go to the folder where you have installed Nehrim. Copy
and paste ALL of it into your Oblivion folder (Steam/SteamApps\common).

Starting Nehrim (if you have Oblivion by Steam)
• Unfortunately, you cannot use the Launcher provided by SureAI with Steam to start Nehrim
Therefore, click as usual on the Oblivion start icon. Nevertheless, DO NOT click “Play”
yet! Just as you do with other mods you must first activate the Nehrim files.
• Therefore click on “Data Files” and uncheck ALL game files that you have activated. To
play Nehrim now enable “Nehrim.esm” and “NehrimData.esp”. NOTHING ELSE! All
files that have anything to do with Oblivion must be disabled or the game will crash. (ED: Therre is also a NehrimEnglish or something similar file that you want to have checked too, otherwise the game will be entirely in German)
• Now you can click the “Play” button. You can check to see if there is an update for Nehrim
by using the Nehrim Launcher (you need only to communicate with the update server by
clicking on the arrow next to the “Update” button and then activate the check box). Then
using the link provided, you can download the update or let the launcher download it
automatically.

There are some things here and there that aren't translated, but I'd say that about 99% of the stuff is. It's fully-playable
