I love cover and gun games like the awesome Uncharted series... hate Gears though

god , that was horrible.
Anyways, i'm with Tha Duck. Thought Uncharted 2 was great, Uncha 1 ... not so much. I give the news there is to be an Unch 3 a thumbs up mixed with a facial expression that expresses mock shock mixed with excitement - like being accidentally thumb raped up the butt on a crowded train.
Eh, I like Vanquish and Uncharted but I don't really care for Gears after the first one (which was mainly because it was new and fresh at the time). There's a pretty big difference between the two.
In Uncharted 2 you're this agile guy who can hop around and use all 3 dimensions of the environment to take out the enemies. You can climb and sneak around them or stealth kill them. You can move to more advantageous cover spots. Get the drop on enemies. Plus enemies die in a few well placed shots. You go pew pew pew and enemy is down and you're moving again.
In Gears you're a slow walking tank who literally SITS behind a brickwall for 2-3 mins while unloading two entire rounds in each enemy while rolling back and forth between another brick next to it. It also has some of the ugliest most uninspired art out there. The best thing Gears has going for it is full story co-op with your friends.
Gears was great for jump starting a genre, but it's been passed pretty hard by a lot of games already. Even 50 Cent BotS is about on par if not better than Gears 2 as a cover shooter. Gears 3 needs a HUGE jump in gameplay design to reclaim the throne. Just being Gears 1/2 in organic plant environments is not going to do it.
