I wouldn't be surprised if Epic Mickey didn't make its money back.  The game was in development for a long time, and that 1.3 million number is a result of the heavy advertising Disney purchased which included things like dedicated billboards.  I'd be more optimistic if the game had sold in Europe, but that's not the case.

I am mystified as to how Carnival Games managed to sell so many copies.  I bought it because I love carnival/circus themes, and I figured it would be a fun set of offbeat minigames to play during a get-together.  Also, it was cheap.  When I took the Wii over to a friend's house, between the four of us I believe we lasted about 30 minutes.  Aside from being sorely disappointed with the lack of sideshow freaks and the terrible presentation, the games were all bland and controlled poorly.

The new Carnival Games games don't sell though.  So I guess a lot of people like you got burned by the first one.  Also, they're trying to copy Nintendo's success and assumed putting New! in the title would help them sell New! Carnival Games.

Carnival Games, LEGO Star Wars, Rayman Raving Rabbids, GH World Tour, Deca Sports, EA Sports Active, and Monster Hunter Tri round out the major third party successes on the Wii.  Epic Mickey just on its first month's sales is like the 12th highest selling third party Wii game in NA.  That is not a major endorsement for Epic Mickey as much as it is a statement of how shitty third party sales have been on the Wii overall.

What about Sonic games? I think the first shit one did ok, I think the medieval one flopped, but what about Colors?

Oscar was listing various million-multimillion sellers on the Wii. None of the sonic games on Wii or any other platform have broken one million sales.  The wii versions do sell the most, which explains Colors' exclusivity, but its in the neighborhood of hundreds of thousands, and I believe its a slow burn to those numbers usually.

edit: Like the third time I had to be corrected this month.  I'll just backpedal and say I was referring to U.S. figures.
edit: I don't consider Mario and Sonic to be groupable with other sonic games as of late.

Well, it is just a mickey mouse game. When you think of iconic video game characters, is mickey one of them? THey may have been better off making Epic Frogger.

Well, no surprise, but the highest selling are the Mario & Sonic games, with Summer at more than 2 million in NA alone, and Winter well over a million in NA.  Secret Rings is over 700k in NA, over 1.5 mill WW.  Unleashed is 400k+ in NA, about a million WW.  Black Knight was a "disaster" and "only" sold a couple hundred thousand in NA, over 400k WW.

Colors, so far, is performing somewhat similarly to Unleashed.

I'm noticing some huge differences between NA figures and WW.  Sonic is a non factor in japan, so I'm curious if the European factor has always been this large.  Or is it a hodgepodge of latin american, mainland asia, and whatnot figures all combined?  The prevailing attitude I've gathered is those territories are non factors.

Yeah, at Alton Towers (UK theme park) I remember they had a tram ride with its own dedicated Sonic the Hedgehog room.  It taunted me with Ice Cap Zone footage considering I could never get past that barrel.

Sonic has always enjoyed very good sales in Europe.  It's how Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing managed to chin up over a million copies in spite of only selling a couple hundred k in North America and not even releasing in Japan.  They really love the little blue fucker there.

Really? Huh.

Some European sales numbers by pixel counting Nintendo graphs...pixel counting credit goes to Rolf NB from gaf

Information which has GFK/Media Control/Chart-Track/Nielsen as a source only accounts for the UK, Germany, France and Spain - these four markets make up 75-80 percent of all European sales.

but thanks to them we know that EU is not a Sonyland(if ever was like that, counting Nintendo) and 360 is selling basically on par with PS3,even mighty GT5 didn't change anything
Not to mention that 360 has one+ year advantage...it is probably still ahead of PS3 in EU otherwise Sony would be talking about it

360 software sales are also good, much better than i expected considering heavy 360 piracy here,2010 difference is like 5 million but large chunk of that goes again to GT5...no other Sony exclusive is even remotely popular as GT5 here, next year will be interesting

At least now we can laugh to shipped (Sony)numbers

Nothing wrong with pixel counting if some loser finds the time to do so.

I like it because it deflates the bubble in the Sfag Enron Accounting style sales estimates.
