No one with a clue outside of console fanboy wankery considered Kinect and Move in direct competition with one another, or that Move would come anywhere close competing with Kinect even in a vague way. The fact that MS keeps harping on it just comes off as immature as hell.

So what is then Move competition,Wii?
That turned out even worse

Reminds me of "Wii is not competition" Sony stuff...

He thought that MS was behind those numbers

Even if you could forget everything on forums, websites you still have Sony
They were quite quick to respond to MS 2.5 million sold figure...hardly a coincidence

560?  It'll end up where GT4 did in the long run.

So GT5 sold almost 10x as well in Japan and Europe?  It's amazing how much relevance Sony has lost in the US.

Epic Mickey ranked among the top-selling console games in December, according to figures released by the NPD Group. Disney sold 1.3 million units, said people familiar with the data.

Every publisher considers shipped= sold.  I guess they think they have decent odds that they won't have to take unsold inventory back.

Pretty sure that Sony said 5 million sold at CES, not just shipped.  It's pretty shady to use shipped numbers as an indication of success when they're so drastically different from sell-through numbers.  If shipped numbers is the industry standard, then Activision can just announce that COD has sold 20 million copies worldwide.

dunno what'll happen if you order through amazon.  I remember getting the Halo Reach Legendary edition for the regular price through a price mix up, but that was wholly amazon, not target or whatever.

people on gaf are saying that will happen, but again, it is still connected with Target.  I think the thing to say is that there isn't reason not to.  Worst case is that it turns out to be the gun and they switch the order, then you just cancel it since it isn't out yet.

Yeah, not surprising at all, lots of Capcom support for iPhone.Even Bethesda is "thinking" to do something with it,not even a mention of 3DS,PS2 in the latest interview. They did plan to release Oblivion on PSP,but that got canned.Good thing is that they might do something "unique".

Yup, he hit the spot why I tend to go for the J games much better than western ones. I'm all about the over-the-top crazy wacky shit, the more realistic a game is, the more boring it tends to be.

BTW it was kinda cool to see FF7 and 8 get a shout in the Planescape Torment credits. I miss the days when Americans weren't talking shit about Japanese games and there wasn't this whole west vs. east mentality in gaming.

Not if you use logic and compare it to the Xbox 360 in the same amount of years, where it's doing almost exactly the same therefore both consoles are "failure".

Yes except that one console is a big improvement sales wise on the prior generation and actually getting more popular as it goes on and the other console is doing jack shit compared to its prior generation and not especially accelerating in this one.

But since you agree the PS3 is a fuckton of failure I welcome more posts from you acknowledging that fact and mentioning how shitty its doing.

Doesn't change the fact that if publishers were making games the 'dumb' people want to buy then they wouldn't have to blame piracy and used game sales

spoiler (click to show/hide)
The publishers KNOW piracy and used game sales are not effecting the bottom line substantially enough to be of major concern.   The actuality is that publishers world wide are not making a profit because of piss poor management and bone headed decisions on a consistent basis.  Luckily for them they have such scapegoats, but its a little telling that Iwata, ceo of the most successful publisher, time and time again blames themselves and their inactivity for any lulls or periods of disinterest resulting in lackluster hardware and software sales. Not piracy and not used game sales.

its the Wii audience, its the casual, soft gamer audience that's fickle as hell but sure as shit loves the fuck outta Just Dance.  In the film industry they've got something they call "high concept", the Wii audience by and large only makes hits out of high concept games, if you need more than a single short sentence to explain it, its gonna tank.

"Mario does more stuff."
"Its like karaoke, but with dancing."
"Its right there in the title, Carnival Games."
"Pretend to get in shape with a videogame."

Its the people that made huge hits out of those games that would buy a really lazy Mario collection by the thousands and be perfectly happy with it, they don't expect much out of their gaming because they sure as hell don't put much into it.  This isn't every Wii owner, but it sure accounts for a lot of them.

The rest of the Wii audience uses the Wii as what the paper industry calls "paper weights." They will put the Wii in an ignored corner of the house or even a closet, often discarding the cables on accident.

And with all those Epic Mickey sales, apparently tons of Disney Interactive people have gotten the boot INCLUDING heavy cuts at Junction Point.

Large media company makes large, overblown investment into video gaming and then pulls out a few years later?  Well sir, I am shocked, and I for one will not take this kind of garbage from Time Warner Universal Virgin Fox Viacom MTV Disney!

Why do people even take jobs with these kinds of companies?  No matter what you do, you'll end up out on your arse sooner or later.  Next up, Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment!

The thing is all these companies think they will become the next EA or Activision but none of them are willing to stomach the losses that it would take to get there. They get in because they think they have some hot franchise and the franchise is never as hot as they've talked themselves into.
