AA is not perfect but it does its job and is very much needed and we have seen what happens when institutions get rid of AA. The result is a lopsided mess. Yes, AA is not fair; but that's the whole point. When you're white, you certainly have a lot more opportunities because most of the people in the country are white. AA arbitrarily evens this out.

That said, AA should only be a mere extension towards the end goal, not a solution.

And AA is proof that civil rights have not evolved in the past 50 years. The government has been very successful and making sheep think that the civil rights movements is long and dead and MLK won when it's obvious for the need for AA: poverty gap. Race is a big contributing factor, but socio-economics contribute as well.

I think AA in modern times shouldn't be banned but should be evolved to include more modern socio-economical values.

Comparing joining a basketball team that's black majority -- because shock and fucking awe, basketball is a huge part of black american culture like how soccer is with hispanic culture -- to affirmative action makes no sense. Basketball has an even playing field. You just practice your ass off. Life however, is different. Not all of us are born white and privileged. Some of us are born to a race where it's pretty common to be in prison or dead by 21 or of a gender that has been placed in a supporting role for humanity for thousands of years.

But thankfully there are first year white male college students out there that opened our eyes to the situation by comparing apples and oranges.
