Zelda series seems to alternate between good non-dungeon-stuff but crap-for-dungeons (either in count or in content) and the inverse. That's sort of why SS sounded like the perfect game, combining WW and TP's best aspects.
TBH SS is getting hate now but I don't think, so far, after four dungeons, that any other console entry is particularly head and shoulders above it. It does good non-dungeon content (much better than TP), it has some good dungeons (much better than WW.) Short of a Triforce piece hunt at the end I don't get the hate.
I don't really believe in the Zelda Cycle as it does seem absurd to lump everyone in with eachother, but I'll be keeping a close eye on the general consensus of SS to see how things shake out in the next years.
