Got my grades back for my second to last semester of my undergrad.  Had to take a bunch of really tough accounting, budgeting, and law classes for music business and entertainment law.  Ended up getting all B's and A's even after the completely impossible task of creating a line-item budget for a recording project.  I'm so happy!  GPA is a 3.5!

I'd argue pre and post med are the definition of intellect and dedication. I know more than a few legit dumb people in law school, business school, etc...all the med students I know are smart as hell.

i would miss like 100 days of school ay ear. i thought it was pointless and still did. any calss I cared about I would get A or A+ in and even picked up a few awards at the end but any bullshit class like Biology or math was just "nah". i had to take biology 4 times to pass it and it ended up me passing it in summer school with some computer program. i just figured that all my calsses were shit because no body took anything seriously so why should I?

i wish i could do it all over again and actually go and make smart decisions. high school sucked tho. i only talk to 1 person from there anymore because everyone was fucking stupid

We don't go by GPAs in high school, just a standard percentage.

I graduated with 98.5%. That was 10 years ago, before the system was "reformed" to be easier and whatnot. I was accepted into the 2 top medical schools (no pre-meds required), the top engineering university, and Aramco's CBC program (all you need to know is that it's shit hot).

I picked the the medical field, started on the right foot and got 4.9 GPA out of 5 the first 3 semesters. Then things went to shit from there. Withdrew a few times, ended up transferring to an engineering school, was too depressed and emo to pick myself up and study, so I withdrew a bunch of times there too. Took a 2 year break from school to work, but it made things even worse. #whenkeepingitrealgoes

A few more fuck-ups later, I was fortunate enough to land a full scholarship, and here I am now. #knockonwood

I know some people who didn't get great gpa's in undergrad. They wanted to go to graduate school, and were worried they couldn't be accepted because they spent too many undergrad nights drinking beer and partying and being a normal young adult. you know what they did? they went to the local university, took classes to pad their gpa and learn a thing in the process, they got a job in the industry they wanted to work in to gain experience, so when they sent their letter and application to their grad school, they showed all the steps they've taken to show that they're serious about their grad studies and that they're better than what they used to be. humility and acknowledgement of your flaws/mistakes goes a long way.

also im personally not looking into this im just talking about how fucked the system is that high school can fuck you over for what seems like 10-15 years or ever. i understand now that if you go in the field you can eventually get there but thats still screwing you over for a while.

It really doesn't fuck you over. Graduate, go to community college instead of a four year, transfer. No one cares what your high school gpa was not only if you've graduated HS but also if you graduated college. On top of that, they won't even care if you have a GED, so long as you have some sort of higher degree.

Since we're all being anecdotal, I have a friend who comes from an extremely wealthy family.  He's kind of dumb (well, more lazy than anything else) and hated the idea of "the real world."  So I found out a few months ago that he got accepted into medical school.  Most of us assumed that his parents gave the place a hefty donation because our minds were boggled otherwise.
