I can understand that.

Most people on GAF denounce it because they're covering their ass (it explains why "review copies" emerge when these games or movies hit the internet).

If people can get shit for free instead of paying for it, they will. That is why most people pirate. I can't help but roll my eyes when pirates pretend that they are Che Guevara, smashing the imperalist record labels when they download a Black Eyed Peas album. Piracy does real damage to their respective industries and I refuse to believe that if piracy was unavailable, that it would have no impact on album/game/movie/etc. sales whatsoever just because of personal experience. My Napster using friends and I, when we could have whatever we wanted, then why would we buy the album? Most didn't.

The main reason why I don't pirate much of anything today is because of the hassle vs. going onto iTunes or Netflix instead. I don't really feel sympathetic for pirates who get sued by industries because they can't be assed to pay for an $8/month subscription to Netflix.

On the other hand, sometimes I wanna catch up on a show because I missed a few eps, but can't because they don't re-air episodes, forcing the only option to wait till it hits stores or download if it ain't on hulu or their site for stream.

no offense, but nothing is 'forcing' anyone. no one really needs anything they pirate. it's a weird mix of entitlement and wanting.

I find waiting to be cathartic. If I pirate an episode of gossip girl because I missed an episode, it's like I'm a slave to that show.

That's ridiculous. The conferences here are on at like 2am and 11am, I'm going to work and sleep around. Maybe I'll work from home one day or come in late.

Last year someones conference was on at 5am and I couldn't be bothered so I just went to sleep at the usual time.

It was probably around the time Iwata started coming across as apologetic and regretful in his interviews, especially when addressing the drop in Wii sales compared to the competition, online implementation, and lack of third party support. He seemed lacking the confidence of a market leader.

Some appreciated his honesty, while others interpreted as a sign of weakness and started taking shots.

I was planning on making time for Nintendo's because they're usually hilariously bad or surprisingly awesome, but I have important stuff at 12:40. Hopefully the Wii 2 is shown before that. Same for the Microsoft one. The Sony one is later, so I can actually watch that! charts and graphs

no idea when the konami and other ones are. Ubisoft ones are good for a laugh, but usually have large boring gaps. EA just has game footage and the conference isn't worth watching. Konami's last year was an anomaly; before that, they were only for watching extended MGS trailers. Um, I think that's it?

I've went to E3 a couple of times (never the conferences, but I would if I got an invite), with a few really big ones, like 06. I definitely enjoyed my time there, but it loses its excitement after the second day or so (at least for me). Either way, I'd never take more than a day off work, and fuck the idea of actually paying $600 per ticket.

I'm excited because of the new hardware. Sony should be showing a lot about the PSP2 and Nintendo will unveil the Wii2. Both can underwhelm for hilarity or disappointingly meet each company's m.o. (Nintendo: old graphics with a gimmick. Sony: Nice hardware; high price and poor management.)

I am not interested in the Cafe so far. Sounds like a misguided project. PSP didn't interest me nor does its upgrade. I expect Sony to ignore the PSN fiasco and the press to get too sidetracked with glitter and glam to care. Some games might be interesting, but there aren't a lot of games I'm invested in already.

exactly. Why do you need to see the shit live? I'll just read the EB E3 thread for the highlights and stay on top of the good shit. You can be interested in videogames and not be a "loser" about it.
