fgc drama is the worst drama. feels like highschool all over again.
Aren't a bunch of those people in their late twenties and early 30s by now too?
FGC GAF is not really FGC, aside from a few guys who aren't just gaffers-- haunts, bluerei, markman, etc. They mostly watch from the outside and talk theory and occasionally go to events.
the actual FGC drama is usually just some WWE type shit. sometimes for the purpose of drumming up bets for money matches
I dunno; I actually met a couple of fgc gaffers at evo a couple years ago, seemed normal enough. but i got the vibe from the whole thing that it was a very insular community with a lot of cliques.
but on the plus side kayo police (i think that's who it was, she was hanging around markman) liked my suit. 
It is but it isn't. I went to a bunch of locals and a tourney this year-- you pretty much get ignored if you're bad at a game, you can talk to folks if you want to get good and have specific questions, and I'm assuming if you hang around long enough you can make some pals. Other than that, it is just groups of people who've been playing each other for years. Pretty much all based on merit of players (despite everyone getting salty and crying cheap after each tourney) and how long you've been around, which I respect. I talked to some folks about it and apparently people showing up once or twice, making a big scene about how they want to get awesome, then quitting shortly after is a big problem. You have to keep in mind that the scene has been around since SF2, so a lot of people are sort of cliqued up by now, naturally. However, everyone seemed to pretty approachable. If you have questions or something you want to talk about, a lot of the top players and scene guys are pretty approachable. I had no problems chatting up spooky, jwong, dieminion, sanford, keits, viscant, fooblat, and other guys at UFGT8.
i should get into a sociology grad program and become a FGC specialist and starve to death.
