I think it's hard, especially in America, to just blame a fat person for being fat when over 2/3 of the population is overweight and 1/3 is obese. It's very difficult to fight your culture and there is no easy fixes for this disease. Childhood obesity is at an all time high, drug related high gain is similar the way doctors had out anti psychotics and anti depressants like they are candy. Being a jackass isn't going to help people lose weight anymore than telling a depressed person to stop crying and be a man is going to cure them

I've been chomping at the bit to address some of the comments on this page .

Regarding equating LGBT people and people of color to fat people - that's not the point I was making.  Of course I don't equate them to fat people, fat people have a choice.  My point is that there are rules in place on GAF to prevent discussions from turning into ad hominem attacks on others...except if you're fat, then go right ahead, fuck those fat fuckers.

As for self-loathing - nope.  Yes, there was a lot of bile in my comments, but that was because I just got really tired with the fat-bashing that goes on in GAF.  I've always been a fairly popular person because - and this may come as a shocker - fat people can have good personalities and be outgoing just like skinny people.

As to my playing lacrosse - I should have been more clear.  I'm a 48 year old father of three, so I'm not playing lacrosse for college or intramural or anything.  I played varsity in high school, but couldn't play in college because I paid my own way through college and worked 40 hour weeks, there was no way I could do an engineering degree, work 40 hours, AND play a sport.  Something would have suffered.  It's one of my big regrets though, because I love the game.  Want I meant was I play with my kids, running around and playing defense, and I play with the kids I coach. 

Listen, I know that being fat is my choice.  I won't go into the multitude of reasons as to why I'm fat unless you all want me to.  We can have an "Ask a Fat Person" segment.   I don't expect pity, I just want motherfuckers to stop being so fucking rude.  I don't call others bald or stupid or gingers or anything else like that, I treat people with respect, and I ask for the same in return.  I get comments from people who are clearly 20+ lbs overweight and it's like WTF.  I just never cease to marvel at the chuptzpah or rudeness of a lot of people.

Well, to be fair: He isn't exactly wrong. GAF hates game piracy, lets movie/tv/music piracy slide unless posters are complete idiots (like the "POP-GAF chainsaw massacre") and admit to it in public.

I mean there's a lot of that flip-flopping around. I'm not agreeing with his "we should be protected as well!" but 'Lore keeps flip-flopping in policies and some of those policies shouldn't be implemented in the first place if that's how it's going to be.

Frankly, them dropping the piracy rule would improve the board ten-fold since posters wouldn't have to tip toe around not admitting to piracy but also not admitting to piracy. But you know they won't do that since "game developers" post on the board (spoiler: only to shill their next game!) to where we can't hurt their feelings that someone thinks their game isn't worth $60 and chose to pirate it/"buy it used" instead.

Keeping the gay/black/ethnic rule would improve discussions beyond a twelve-year-old discussion level (or... not, as the current GAF is).

Banning "cunt," never should've happened. "It had good intentions," sure... if you're an American. And speaking as an American I understood that the rest of the world (see: Europe/Australia) use it as an insult more than the "C-word"/"F-bomb" holy grail that women in America make it out to be.

Agreed. Lore undoing bans his own mods did was pretty disrespectful to his team. At the least, he should have lessened the ban times, not just outright unban the whole thread.

Dude, I'm fat too. I have battled it since I was a teenager. I was  a skinny fuck as a kid, in shape, played a lot of sports. I know how it feels. While I find what the waiter did was disrespectful, I find half the of the replies coming from that thread to be oversensitive and touchy than they have any right to be. And I guess, from your language or tone, I lumped you in with the rest. My apologies.

The article hasn't been published so who knows. The quarterly review of biology has a pretty good Impact Factor, so it's not as if this article was published in some shit magazine

Ahhhh, good point. But fittest can and very often does mean adaptation.

So if homosexuality is an adaptation of the species to create less people who have the ability to procreate, it goes along Darwinian natural selection.
