Investments are literally sit on your ass because you made a good decision with money you already had and yet the taxes on it are less than a hard day's work, it's sickening.

The article itself is a perfectly useful and informative piece of information about the changing tax rates and complexities thereof. I get the feeling not a lot of people actually read it.

The infographic, however, is bizarre. Why the crazy outlier scenarios and doubly so why the sad faces straight off of a poster for Les Miserables?

If I ever have an AGI of $230,000 and look that despondent over a $3,000 tax increase, someone please shoot me in the head. Everyone has the "right" to bitch about their taxes, but if a $3k adjustment to your net income at that level means you're on the road to ruin then you have really fucked up.

Well, a lot of it comes down to money management. I know of some coworkers who make fat bank who are sweating the tax changes because they spent every cent of their paychecks: private schools for the kids, new luxury cars every year, a summer house, etc. Some are so deeply in debt that they just make the minimums and if they do pay $5,000 a year or whatever more in taxes, it does make a big difference to them because that is the difference between paying the minimum balances and not being able to. I'm not saying people should weep for these people but yes, it is possible to make hundreds of thousands of dollars and still be broke.
