this is a similar thing that happened to red vs. blue awhile back. initially it was a very "anything goes" forum. then it got more popular and they neutered it. pretty much gutted out any adult content from the forum leaving it completely bland and boring.

It looks like they're moving forward with what WYL was supposed to be before Dave and costanza forfeited it to that doofus chapel to be nothing more than GAF-lite: a sort of media entertainment site with a focus on original content.
