I definitely would have played this if they had fixed the controls.  Pretty dumb of the devs to totally leave the controls unchanged when that was what most people disliked about the first game.  Now it's basically a tech demo with extended playing time.

Good!  Maybe the servers will start working better once you guys all leave :P

They apparently sold way above expectations with LBP2 and the servers are definitely struggling with so many people online at once.

Are there any good Batman levels?  I kinda have a craving for more Batman-related gaming after beating the excellent Batman AA.

They probably wanted to support everything from LittleBigPlanet 2, which they do.  But the grapple hook can be taken as proof that they don't think it's broken.  The controls for the grapple are pretty bad.

I liked the three worlds of the campaign I played.  They mix it up instead of pretending the controls are suited for precision platforming.  The third world is a lot of lemmings-lite.

The strength this game has compared to the first are the better tools for custom levels.  People who want to make levels have a lot more to work with.  The few levels I've seen are better than things even late in LBP1's time, and it hasn't even been a week.  There is a lot more potentially, basically.

I actually haven't played any LBP2 user levels that I've liked yet.  There have been some neat tech demos, but in terms of real levels...not much.  Venice is sinking and Panda Rescue are alright.

The best part of LBP2 so far for me has been 1) the story levels and 2) going back and playing the cream of the crop LBP1 levels that came out after I shelved the game a year ago.  Between those two I think I'm set with good levels for a few months until quality LBP2 user levels start to roll out.

Are there any good Batman levels?  I kinda have a craving for more Batman-related gaming after beating the excellent Batman AA.

There's a lot of Batman levels but dunno if any are good.  I remember a decent one early on from LBP1.

Here's a list (4,501 results of levels with "batman"): http://lbp.me/search?q=batman

I heard on Weekend Confirmed that they "fixed" the floaty controls by adding jump-pads.  Is this true?  Sounds kinda hilarious for a platformer.

I guess that might work since there are many gamers like Bebpo who say that LBP really isn't about precise jumping.  It's still kinda disappointing though as Super Mario like gameplay with LBP graphics would have been ridiculously awesome.

I wonder why they didn't just remove the physics component from the character movement.  Batman AA had a ton of physics effects in the gameworld but Batman himself still moves like a character from any game with no physics calculations.

Here's a list (4,501 results of levels with "batman"): http://lbp.me/search?q=batman

That's pretty crazy for a game that nobody is playing.

Jump pads are fun, but they don't really "fix" anything.  Still plenty of normal jumping.

What they did do is add the ability to set the jumping/movement physics for sackboy.  What they didn't do is employ that in any of the story levels so far.  But there are a few user levels (mainly tests) that show you can make the controls tighter so who knows what we'll see in a few months from the community.

I love this game.

World 4 has been a blast.  Almost done with it.  2 more worlds to go!
Linkzg, I think you'll like the 2nd stage in world 4.  It's pretty fun although maybe a little too long.
When I get some free time I gotta go online with friends and do some of these versus party games.  A few seem like a lot of fun.

Occasional wonky controls aside, this is probably going to be a GoTY contender for me.  The story campaign is really really great.

I still haven't cleared Da Vinci's introductory levels. My OCD habits are kicking in again as I'm finding myself replaying levels until I'm getting 100% before advancing to the next level. I just started playing the level where they introduce the grapple hook and it's not as bad as I thought it would be, but I can already see how it's gonna frustrate me in future, simply by accidentally ascending and descending when I'm going for left and right swings. I wish they mapped the former two to the triggers to avoid this issue.

I only played story levels today and they don't show up in recent activity so that might be why.

Yeah, the queue is a life saver.  That's why I keep putting the lbp.me link to every level I mention!

The last two stages of world 4 suck because they try to do an homage to Gradius and they are not good shmup makers ^^;  First level of world 5 kind of zzz too.  But the 2nd level of world 5 was great great stuff and I hear the rest of world 5 is awesome.

I played Unhearted: Drake's Misfortune 2:  I had like 45 mins before I had to go to my bar prep class and so I was like "I will play this level" and it got really annoying when I had to leave in 5 mins AND I WAS STILL NOT DONE.  I finished it after like 40 mins.  I dunno, I don't really want my LBP levels to be more than about 5 mins long :P  10 mins max.  Really long levels wear me out.  The level itself was alright, it had some good puzzles and was very complex in how you keep going through the area in different ways, but it has this slingshot minigame it uses a few times which is HORRID and it's also (like waaaay too many user levels) TOO DARK so sometimes I got stuck because I couldn't see a switch.  I actually had to turn up my brightness +10 to find the switch.  Would only recommend if you have a lot of time on your hands and are bored and like Uncharted.  (http://lbp.me/v/r-c3wm)

oh my god the controls are unbelievably awful on one section for the final boss

I can't believe anyone tested some of the stuff in this game.  Creatively it has been great, and the lemmings/puzzle stuff was great.  Anyone that requires jumping or assbad rtype shit is TERRIBLE.

and the boss design is so bad that you're literally assaulting for minutes with multiple stages.  ffs, no one cares to see this shitty shit.  do three hits like every other game and get done with it.  if this wasn't the last thing I'd stop playing.

it would be so bad if the timing window was so goddamn small.  but it's like trying to fit a cube into a circle hole with a guy pointing a face and counting down from one.  give me some time to make your shitty jumping work.

edit:

having said that, all in all the campaign was pretty fun.  Media Molecule should just stop trying to design anything that requires precision in this game.  But there were a lot of cool and creative levels that didn't do that and those were fun.

Yeah I just finished the story too and was going to bitch about the final form of the last boss.  I kept missing the pie and then you have to sit through the whole sequence again.  Was annoying!  Beat him with 1 hit until I was dead, so at least I didn't have to do it over again.

Everything else was great though.  Really enjoyed the campaign.

Played 2 user levels afterwords:

Up & Away in Sky Town 2 looks nice and has a neat gameplay concept with using a balloon to simulate low gravity jumps.  It even has wind fans and stuff that affect the physics.  The jumping is wonky though.  I'll recommend the level but DO NOT TRY TO JUMP WHILE RUNNING - YOU WILL DIE.  Jump straight up to lift off and then hug the direction you want to go.  (http://lbp.me/v/sef3qh)

The Imaginarium of Jimmy Hatchet - Great level.  Really nice visuals and some fun puzzles, easy platforming.  Highly recommended (http://lbp.me/v/qnhxkj)

Ok, wow, yeah LBP2 really fucks up the lightning/coloring on some of the LBP1 levels.  The balloon level is supposed to be BLUE and GREEN colorful, not washed out.  And the Imaginarium is apparently supposed to look like this and not my 2nd pic:

:(

Still fun levels but sucks that the visuals are broken.

I'm at the beginning of world 4 and I've aced every level so far, but the bitching about controls in later levels are discouraging me from continuing that. I haven't even started going through any community levels as I'm trying to clear the campaign. I appreciate the level links though, keep them coming. I've queued many of them already.

It's only one section on the end of the last boss that is a nightmare.  The rest of the time it is manageable, and if you made it that far, you might as well see it through.  World 4 one of the best levels in the game (the one with the bee and sackbots).

It's probably not that hard to ace.  I only play the story levels once.  If I was willing to replay them a few times I'm sure I could ace them.

The game is easier than LBP1 for sure.

Anyhow, you guys should play this LBP2 level Stereo/Mono 2 ( http://lbp.me/v/w0h63v   )
It's like Rhythm Tengoku LBP.  The platforming is done to a beat.  Pretty cool looking and fun playing and the music ain't bad.  Recommend.

I also played Island of Birds (http://lbp.me/v/w082v6)
It's ok.  It tries to use sackbots but the AI for the sackbot SUCKS and the platforming required is precise and if you make one mistake you're severely punished everytime.  So uh, it was fun to look at but not fun to play.  Still interesting to see what people can do with sackbots.

These LBP1 levels wouldn't show up in LBP2 even though they were on my queue :(  Dunno if it'll work if you manually search in game or not.  I just stuck in LBP1 and played them there:

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi: Battle of Endor (http://lbp.me/v/rz8whh)

I usually dislike licensed levels because they tend to depend more on the license than being a creative good level.  But this level is WOW.  The difficulty is perfect, the platforming/puzzles/combat balance is great and the writing is funny.  This is one of the best user levels I've played.  Highly Recommended.

A Salty Space Adventure: Save the Girl (http://lbp.me/v/wdcz83)

This is the most professional user level out there.  You'd think this was designed by the super meat boy guys and team ico or something.  Awesome visuals and really great platforming/level design.
BUT, this level is HARD AS HELL.  You get unlimited lives but there's one or two checkpoints that are like playing super meat boy except with unresponsive physics.  If you play this level you may not finish it.  Also the cutscenes are sloooow.  But it's worth putting up with that stuff because the level ridiculously good.  Still recommended.

Security Breach (http://lbp.me/v/r6epmq)

Was just ok.  Wouldn't really recommend.

Manufactured Madness (http://lbp.me/v/pwb328)

Seemed ok, but I got stuck and couldn't finish it :(  Meh.

Dead Space: New Arrivals (http://lbp.me/v/r7be5z)

This was actually really good.  Very nice looking, good pacing, good level design, feels dead space.  Only downside is it's not very long and only covers the beginning of Dead Space.  But it was so well made I'm going to check out some of the other levels from this creator.

but this one looks cool
