Not true. I only ever saw The Goonies and The Princess Bride a few years ago, and I enjoyed both of them.

I can relate with mupepe.  When I was a little kid, I rented The Goonies every single weekend and I thought it was pretty much the best movie ever.  I caught it on TV a few years back, and it was definitely one of those experiences where I was left wondering what I loved about it.  Sure, it had its moments, but I think they were all really nostalgia-fueled.  It's only cool to me int hat wacky hip ironic way these days.
