Few days ago there was some article saying the same thing...PS3 trade trade trade
Not the end of the world for Sony, but people are fickle these days(competition is strong, money is tight).

SOE seems to have problems

Quote
Dear valued SOE Customers,

We have had to take the SOE service down temporarily. In the course of our investigation into the intrusion into our systems we have discovered an issue that warrants enough concern for us to take the service down effective immediately. We will provide an update later today (Monday).

Dear Valued Sony Online Entertainment Customer:
Our ongoing investigation of illegal intrusions into Sony Online Entertainment systems has discovered that hackers may have obtained personal customer information from SOE systems.  We are today advising you that the personal information you provided us in connection with your SOE account may have been stolen in a cyber-attack.   Stolen information includes, to the extent you provided it to us, the following: name, address (city, state, zip, country), email address, gender, birthdate, phone number, login name and hashed password.

Customers outside the United States should be advised that we further discovered evidence that information from an outdated database from 2007 containing approximately 12,700 non-US customer credit or debit card numbers and expiration dates (but not credit card security codes) and about 10,700 direct debit records listing bank account numbers of certain customers in Germany, Austria, Netherlands and Spain may have also been obtained. We will be notifying each of those customers promptly.

I love how this has become the new theory. If this was a former employee, then that's even worse.

The real reason is b/c Sony had Bin Laden running IT for PSN.

Even though they initially denied it, this is precisely what they threatened to do (albeit via rumors and not directly) after warming up by taking playstation.com down. Right down to every little detail.

I had to spend an hour on the phone on monday to get my business debit card reauthorized because of this shit.  My card wasn't even related, but because I had another card on there they put a hold on it without telling me.  I found out when my card was denied by California when I was trying to pay taxes :-\ Thank god it was early in the day or Sony would have cost me $600

Sony said the CC #s are encrypted and the login passwords were hashed.  You didn't need to get a new CC in the first place unless you're an unfortunate European who uses SoE.

Well, unless you don't believe what Sony is saying, which at this point, is probably the safer option.

Cool so these distinguished mentally-challenged fellows are going to jail, can't wait to watch them. Hopefully Obama will just murder them isntead.

Err, the whole point of Anon is that they can't be caught/punished.
