Why the hell are girls...
« on: December 28, 2006, 10:48:38 PM »
..that I talked to or met on online dating sites six months ago suddenly wanting to add me as a friend on facebook now?

Seriously, if we never got together then, or things didn't work out after a couple of dates, and I haven't talked to you in six months, how and why the hell are you seeking me out on facebook now?

It's the same thing that ex girlfriends do.  They always want to be a part of your life no matter what.  I can't count how many times I've heard "I don't want to talk to you again!" and then I get a call a few days later asking how I'm doing.  They're just weird like that.  It has something to do with the "nosiness" factor.

Boogie, I can give you advice on the two things women like most:  Start getting into Columbo and Rod Stewart.

Maybe it should be noted that everything I know about women I learned from my mom.

Because Facebook is an overglorified game of human Pokemon cards, you "gotta get em all" if you will, the people on facebook feel more important if they have more friends added to their list, and feel secure that they have friends with the total number of "friends" next to them.

Before I canceled my facebook I had like 401, I said at first I would only accept the people I really knew, but then I got hooked.

Doesn't that mean you're actually giving Boogie advice on how to score with your mom?  I mean, we could get a dozen great threads out of it, but do you really want that?

On topic, I think Christopher pretty much nailed it.  People add acquaintances as a status thing.

I've been trying to hook up Saint Cornelius with my mom for like a month now.  I just want to have a cool dad.

Well, if it helps, she is 60 and her favorite Rod Stewart songs are:

You're in my Heart
Maggie May
Do Ya Think I'm Sexy
and I Wanna Freak Boogie Nasty in da Ass

The last one is actually written and performed by me, but I bet she'd like it.

Before I canceled my facebook I had like 401, I said at first I would only accept the people I really knew, but then I got hooked.

I did the same thing with Myspace, started accepting random people after a while. Now I never no on it anymore because I'm scared of stalkers and I'm too lazy to weed out the people I know in my friends list, lol. Plus I can no longer login for whatever reason even though I had my password reset and stuff.

Anyway, the only other two boys I've ever loved are my friends on Facebook. I don't talk to either anymore really, only if I see them in passing, but it gives me comfort of sorts to know that they're still doing okay because part of me is always going to care.

As for people you talked to twice though, no idea about that. Probably just desperate for a high count of friends.

I was 100% atheist until I had pity sex for the first time.

What exactly triggers the pity sex gene in woman is a mystery. Just don't become offended when it happens .. it's all part of "his" plan.

If you say so.  Just baffled me to see a friend request and have to ask "who the hell is this?"

Dunno. Perhaps they do random searches, and then see our dashing good looks and just want to be friends.

You can browse for people under just about any category on facebook. That's probably how.
