...why are you comparing Grandia and FF9?

I'm gonna finally play through this before the summer is over. I started years ago, but I stopped early on for some reason. It's the only one besides Xtreme that I haven't completed.

Grandia 2 was the first 3D rpg I ever played through and the game that got me to love turnbased battle systems. I thought everything about that game was fucking amazing back then. I probably would still think the same about everything except for the story if I replayed it today.

I tried replaying someone's copy on the PS2, but something about the framerate was fucked. I don't even think I understood framerate back then.

Not our fault. I wasn't expecting jrpgs to be so scarce this gen, especially after the beast that was the PS2.

eh the developers that made all the cool rpg on ps2 also worked on HD console,so really to me it seems more of a perception problem "buu-huu tri-ace hasn't made me valkyrie profile 3 and instead made animu ocean 4 :'("

I've never actually played any of the VP games. Try again.

You can't seriously think there's a good amount of great jrpgs this gen...

I beat and liked Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, and Nier. Got distracted and stopped midway into Blue Dragon and The Last Remnant. Only played the beginning of Resonance of Fate so far.

Resonance of Fate, Valkyria Chronicles, Nier, Vesperia, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are the best on consoles. And probably Xenoblade too...  :-\

RIP Grandia creator, the original game is pretty amazing, I remember being really jealous of all those Saturn owners back when it was first announced. But I guess I got the last laugh because the PS1 version was the one to make it out in America :P

it's hard to beat the psx/ps2 era but the situation isn't so bad and gloomy as most people make it

unless all the jrpg developer suddenly decide to close shop, jrpg will continue their legacy

fighting game got suddenly resurrected yet it seems this whole resurrection consist of street fighter 4 and blazblue... (and maybe marvel vs capcom 3) how does that work again?

More than what we have now. Maybe I shouldn't have said great. I loved games like Grandia 3 and thought the Wild Arms games were good even though it seems like most people hated them.

i would love to play the atelier games but apparently my console isn't japanese enough and the media hates them for stuff like "hypersexualized young girls"
