Wait, the patch hits the 24th? Holy crap, that's sooner than I thought. I thought they'd be releasing the patch in March to match DOA5+. Nice, gonna have to pop the game in and finish Arcade mode's legendary now.

Was off on the dates- The PS3 patch is tomorrow and the 360 patch is on the 29th.

I think both consoles get the new stage DLC tomorrow, however.

Feel like an idiot. I played a bunch of online thinking the patch had already happen and was re-inforced when it did update. So I was playing a lot in hopes to unlock those legendary costumes, but yeah I did'nt quite read that it's not out yet.

Online is definitely better now.  I really like that they show you your opponent's stats and connection quality before you accept a match in ranked now.

TOO BAD NOBODY IS PLAYING RANKED!   :lol :-\

Doesn't really matter, I guess- with the new DLC comes Zack Island (awesome stage) and another round of bikini outfits, which happens to include re-colored versions of Tina/Christie/Lisa's legendary dental-floss bikini costumes.  Nobody is going to bother trying to get them unlocked now.

Here's what a replay uploaded directly to Youtube looks like.  Shit quality.

1.03 has been "canceled."

An issue with stagger escapes (a.k.a. slow escapes) during Critical has been discovered in the Ver.1.03 patch for PS3, released 1/22. #DOA5
As a result, we have halted the Xbox 360 update originally scheduled for January 29, 2013. #DOA5
We plan to release a corrected update for both PS3 and Xbox 360 systems sometime in February. #DOA5

At least they caught it and are going to releasing a fixed version soon enough.  *coughcoughcapcomcoughmajorrolentoglitchcoughnotfixedformonthscough*

Team Ninja have released a version 1.03A patch for Dead or Alive 5 on the PlayStation 3, with an Xbox 360 version of the patch to follow later this month. One of the changes in 1.03A is that Team Ninja have disabled stagger escapes for certain Criticals, in order to make Tag Mode better suited to aggressive play. Here are some of the new combos you can pull off in Tag Mode now:

PS3 if you're going for cross-buy/cross-play. Otherwise either version.

thisismyusername, it's not my video!  I usually turn off danger zones whenever I get to choose the stage.

Where the fuck is the 360 patch

Nobody knows.  They just said February for the update...and here's the PS3 patch, but nothing for 360!   :-\  It seems to have killed online play.  I booted up the 360 version last night and there were two lobbies with a few people in each.  But the patch should get a bunch of people back...worked for PS3.

What thisismyusername said- virtually the same game on both platforms, but PS3 has the cross-buy/save stuff with the upcoming Vita version.  PS3 also lets you upload replay videos to Youtube...360 does not for whatever reason.

At least make some new ones...the swimsuit pack has recolors of outfits already available (the "legendary" suits for Tina, Christie, and Lisa) and they're releasing pics of upcoming outfits that will be out when DOA5+ hits...including another recolor of the same swimsuit for Christie.   :lol

The swimsuits totally fit the Zack Island stage and look completely out of place elsewhere.

Famitsu confirms that DOA5 Ultimate will be coming out on PS3 and 360.  "New" characters will be added, including Momiji from Ninja Gaiden.

This is way too quick after DOA5's release to be announcing another game.  But I guess it worked for UMvC3.

UMVC3 was great!  It's the vanilla version that shouldn't exist.

i'll bet my nuts this is way less substantial, but that people will be more accepting of it because it's not teh evil capcom and it's not really about the fighting anyway.   There might be hell if the thousands of dollars worth of DLC costumes are free on the disc.

I don't mean sales as much as I mean the community.  People bitched about UMvC3 but they all ended up buying it.  DOA already has a small community to begin with and this is definitely going to lose some people.

I also take it that this means that Vita doesn't get this upgrade.  Kind of funny given how recent that port is.  Online was already...DOA...so I guess this is the final nail in the coffin.  Add lobbies next time, Team Ninja.  Who the fuck thought that was a good idea to leave out, especially with cross-play?

They've put everything else on Vita, I imagine this will make it eventually?   And aren't the games' online systems tied together?

-------------marvel tangent------------

People will be more accepting of it because DoA sells anywhere between 1-5% of what MvC/SF4 did.

Capcom didn't really get away clean with UMvC though.  It stopped regular MvC3 sales momentum dead, and really failed to sell anywhere near as well as the more staggered Super SF4 did.

they've commented that UMVC3 continues to sell at some unspecified steady pace,  probably thanks to the competitive community that Marvel probably doesn't allow them to legally acknowledge.

My one super nerd gaming wish is to get the full MVC3 development story from Seth Killian.  Everything from what iterations they did and what was taken out to the drama like how much Marvel intervened and restricted the game, how much was it Capcom's handling, how much the Earthquake affected it...all that.   I think the popular theory (well, the one that isn't just "lol capcom") is that they rushed the game out at first to make up for a bad quarter, then the Earthquake happened, then they pushed out Ultimate because their DLC scheduling got fucked up by the quake.   I mean, 6 months is really weird for that huge of an update, even by Capcom standards.

Something was definitely up with Marvel- it was odd that they released a single alternate outfit/look pack and nothing else ever got released.

They've put everything else on Vita, I imagine this will make it eventually?   And aren't the games' online systems tied together?

This seems to be a new game and not a DLC add-on, so that doesn't seem likely.  Plus I believe Oscar mentioned before that DOA5+ sales' were pretty dismal.

Lol Momiji doesn't fit at all.

I still have the 360 version. Might as well trade it in now, for whatever. Plus between the two versions I've spent tons of time on the game and I'm DoAed out. I'm also not into the competitive scene(is there one for DoA?) so I'll be fine until fall.

Hayabusa throwing people up bouncing them from a roof, into an Izuna Drop 90% health supah-slam x 3.

So competitive! *yawn* It's why I laugh at freestepdodge wanting a more competitive game, Team Ninja can't even balance moves and factors right now for longer games and some comebacks. What makes them think buffing/nerfing some characters is going to help?

DOA5 Ultimate is going to be coming to PS3 in both regular retail and free-to-play versions, similar to what Tecmo did with the DOA5+ Vita demo- you'll be able to play a locked version of the full game, with four playable characters, online against other players, and can pay to unlock additional characters/modes if you don't want to buy the full retail release, which Amazon is listing for $39.99.

The "new" characters are Leon, Ein, Jacky from VF, Momoji from NG, and Rachel from NG.

E3 Trailer.
