The best thing about Oblivion was the Dark Brotherhood questline, which was headed up by Emil Pagliarulo.

Emil Pagliarulo also worked as a designer for the Thief series and was lead designer on Fallout 3.

Who is the lead designer on Skyrim? Emil Pagliarulo.

Fucking love this game. My only complaint is I wish I could find alchemic gear in the world instead of using generic tables :sniffles but I can see them needing to balance Alchemy since it broke the game in Morrowind and Oblivion.

Also, this game can be fucking hard if you really travel outwards. I'm actually afraid of pulling two human characters into battle at times. Really makes playing a stealthy character invigorating. Oh and Khajiit for the win! Being able to see in the dark any time you want, for 60 seconds, is fucking useful.

I found a dragon shout location in the middle of a snowy mountain. I had to approach from the rear and sure enough, a dragon was guarding it. As I was heading down to face it Lydia started shooting arrows at it. Well I'm already down the mountain and can't get back up.

So now I'm sitting here watching Lydia fight a dragon on her own. She has a bunch of boss weapons that I gave her so she's winning.

When you upgrade your house, you get more chests, so you can do your own categories.

in Morrowind you can get a crescent sword by going to another dimension of existence and killing a daedric prince. you enter this world by putting on a ring, and bam! and floating boots! Umbra! Umbraaaa!

I actually did just stumble into umbra in oblivion, like 5 hours into the game, had to come back way latter to actually kill her and get the sword though.

i found a mask that when equipped teleports you to some room with 8 other empty mask altars, havent found any yet but this seems important/endgame stuff maybe

also: i havent tried this yet, but you might be able to cheese fights with this since it teleports you away from stuff, maybe like a heal room? will try out

you gotta go exploring, man. thieves guild is in Riften to the south east. dunno about the dark brotherhood.

A guard at the front gate mentions the dog to you, starting the quest. I came into town from the east, if that helps.

Go to the orphanage in Riften and talk to the kids, they'll mention one kid who ran away and talked about joining the Dark Brotherhood. I haven't gotten to where this kid is yet, but I'm pretty sure that's what will get you started.

Also in Riften, you'll meet a guy named Brynjolf who will offer you a job of dubious legality, complete it and he will introduce you to the Thieves Guild.

that quest with Barbas is so far the high water mark in the game for me. especially because the second part involved me having to walk across almost the entire map to get the thing i had to acquire. along the way i did a bunch of dungeons and even found one with a dragon shout and a boss that dropped the sweet axe i have now. and the end piece of loot you get it awesome

there's only been one time Lydia was in danger of dying and that was against a giant. even when she fought the dragon by herself she was able to come out alive. now that i have her suited up with an awesome elven great sword - she is walking death.

also she can summon rock creatures and ghost wolves now. i have NO idea how.

my only complaint so far is that you don't get that full body pic of your character in the inventory screen now, so you don't know how armor/clothing looks on you until you back out of it and go to third person

Let's talk about the seemingly random crap we've seen in the game that holds no value to the gameplay but adds to the game's world:

I was adventuring on the eastern portion of the map and encountered a hot spring. I found a hunter camp. No one was there, but I found portion of hunter clothes, armor and weapons upon the grass. I looked in the hot springs and the hunters were in their middle aged bikini briefs and tops just chillin' and getting some sun.

Amazing.

ok, ran into a bug (shocking, i know) and can't finish the "trouble in skyrim" quest

i had already gone to the silent moons camp earlier before i joined the companions, and cleared out most of it, when i went back and killed the bandit leader, it told me to go back to farkas, but it never gave me credit for finishing the quest and "return to farkas" still appears on my map - even though the quest is listed under my finished quests in the menu

so basically this thing is gonna be there forever, in some sort of grey "incomplete but sort of complete" area, because i'm not gonna go hours back and load a save before i went to silent moons camp
